Grease Party - Please help

Posted by saw on November 30, 2004, at 0:05:30

I am attending a year end function for our sporting club on Saturday. Those knowing my current frame of mind and frame of large body, know that I would really, REALLY rather not go. But I must support my husband, so I will bury my shame and fear (and drink lots), and go.

Now my dilemma. It is a Grease Party and we have to dress up. There will also be a prize for the best dressed couple.

I could dress as Sandy, the new Sandy. After all, singing like her (Olivia) is the least of my problems. That one I can cope with, with much aplomb but my body would look quite silly in black leather pants. What, oh what do I wear? I cannot wear tight clothing and waist hugging stuff is out of the question. Nor do I want to dress like a pink lady. (All the other ladies will, I want to be different).

My couch and torn, loose shorts and oversize t-shirt are preferable to me, but I have to do this.

Any ideas?

Sabrina

Was Sandy in the beauty shop scene? (Thinking voluminous cape) And the pink ladies, they were the ones in tight pants and tops with little scarves at the throat?
How about a poodle skirt with an elastic wasit?

In the Hopelessly Devoted to You scene, Sandy wears a nightgown from under her neck to her ankles.

Now there's an option.

You could go as a jar of Vaseline...

PS I am also of a shape that would be ill-suited to those clothes.

And I have decided to go as Rizzo. She wears black, all black. I also love her character in the movie.

Went as Rizzo. Nobody knew who I was!

My husband went as Kunikei (sp?) and won the prize for best dressed male. He really looked cool.

It was an enormous personal sacrifice and took more courage than I really had to go to his thing. I hid behind a chair, a wall, a bar counter. I couldn't bear being looked at and sniggered at. I refused a camera anywhere near me.

Unless I'm anorexic, I never want to be in public again.

I cannot imagine anyone sniggering at you!! I wish I'd been there so if I'd seen any sniggerers I could have whacked them upside the head.
I LOVE that expression.
