This note is from a friend who has family down in Florida.
she writes:
The family across the street from my dad lost the roof to their home, it is a total lose, no people hurt, thank goodness. He has a freind whos’ home suffered the same outside damage as my dad's but, she has many many trees down on her property. My father has been going to a neighbors every morning for coffee. They have a camp cooker, so they have been camping out for 6 days.A few stores are open, but none of the grocery stores that are open are stocking perishable foods, because no one has a means of storing them. Gas stations are few and far between that are open, but there is a wait to get gas. they say it may be weeks before they have power...... Everyone there now is paying attention to Ivan, and praying it does not come to them. They say it would wipe out whatever was left there if it does come.
My goodness.
As Ivan the terrible bears down on Cuba.
I shudder to think what may happen there.

I feel very guilty about being panicked over the approaching storm. What's losing a house, I'm thinking. This can't compare to what the victims of 9-11 experienced. I'm finding it distressing to see people around me showing the same state of anxiety I feel every day. I feel like going up to upset people I see all around me, and saying to each one - see how you feel now? That's how I've felt for the last 3 years.

* I'm so sorry. It does appear this planet has plenty of sadness to go around.
I wish I had something uplifting to say. But you see today I am sad too.
