OK I'm behind the times here, but I just saw Cold Mountain on DVD. Dang I hated that they killed him at the end. I mean I knew it had that 'tragic lovers' vibe about it, but darn it, I was so cursing that movie when he died. So all she got was one night? And then his kid to raise? And even Ruby got her man? No fair.
It's been said before but I'll say it again. That Jude Law is dreamy. Even though, was it just me, or did it look like he's losing his hair already? Not fair either. And Renee surprisingly did not annoy. I thought the whole plucky earthy heroine with a fake southern accent would bug me, but it didn't.
And I loved the music of her daddy's little band. What is that, roots music? Bluegrass? Whatever, I liked it.
Coulda done without the Natalie Portman episode, but I loved the old witch with her goats and whiskers in her weird little shack in the woods.

Jude Law was major cool. He is so devoted to his roles in each movie.
I was so sad at the end....I saw it in a theater.....I hate that when I cry at the end and all the lights come up....there I am blowing my nose and red eyed. I kind of sobbed at the end of this movie.
The scenes of the war were so hard. The end scene with everybody eating and the farm looking like heaven well.....I just couldn't make that quick of a transition from the saddness. I tried to smile but my red eyes betrayed me.
All together I thought it was a good movie. I enjoyed Renee too.
What was the "Natalie Portman episode"?

but, if you want to talk about a tragedy, this weekend i'm going to see spiderman 2 instead of farhenheit 9/11. my old man is almost as stupid as he looks, isn't he?

natalie portman was the grieving woman living alone with the sick baby. I thought that whole piece was just sad and painful to watch.

Oh yah I remember....very sad. That baby really looked sick. I was so sad for her.
I hated that the nice soldier had to die as well. War is so cruel.
