My father is in the hospital, and they're going to do a biopsy on a spot they found on his pancreas. Harry quit eating his regular food, although I've been getting him to eat bread, pasta, and donuts. Work is crazy, with some minor changes that probably cause more inconvenience than anything.
But I don't do well with too muchness.
I think my "enthusiasm" was an attempt to divert my attention from everything going on, but that coping mechanism is failing, and I'm getting really really anxious.

That's a lot on your plate, Dinah. It's good for me to be busy, too; but your worry center is overloaded. One thing at a time is the only (pretty lame) advice I can offer.
And hugs and best wishes for your dad and doggy.

Argh, Dinah. I'm so sorry so much stuff is piling up on you right now. Either one - dad or doggy - would be very stressful. But both at the same time?
I wish I had some comforting words for you. Better, I wish I had some great advice on how to cope with that type of overload. ((((Dinah))))
I'll keep you, your father, and your pup in my thought and prayers....

So sorry to hear about Harry and your dad. And work craziness I'm sure doesn't help at this point. It does sound like an awful lot to handle all at once. I hope you'll be able to take care of yourself, too. I'll be thinking about your dad and poor Harry and sending positive wishes for them.

Get takeout so you don't have to cook and cleanup
Use paper plates and cups
Don't make beds (does anyone really do this anyway?)
Cuddle with Harry
Eat ice cream(((((Dinah)))))

Sorry, just had to put that out there. Sometimes i wonder about it, but there is something about coming home and seeing that "at least the bed is made" that makes me feel better.
Geez, I'm easy to please these days.

Dinah,
I think the moon and stars are lined up wrong. Must be a gemini moon with the double-whammies going on for everyone. It seems that no one is dealing with singular trials.
Hang in there. Find something to take your mind to a calmer place. Reread Harry Potter or something like that. Post here.
I'll keep you all in my prayers.
Hugs
Daisy

The tests on my dad came back all good. Well, not all good because he's got a bad infection and a really bad ulcer. But better than pancreatic cancer. Everything seems fixable.
And even Harry seems a bit more cheerful on his new powdered sugar donut diet. OK, a lot more cheerful. Powdered sugar will do that to you.
I'm doing my darndest to distract myself and doing a moderately good job, tho I've sort of removed myself from the world to do it. That and my forgetting sleeps (I feel one coming on).
Thanks for your good wishes and prayers everyone. I can't tell you how relieved I am already. I know my father's been sick for a long time and hasn't been happy for years, but I'm selfish enough to want my Daddy to be around as long as possible.

Yea! I'm glad your dad is doing well.
Hug your pup (or don't you have several?) for me,
Susan

"I know my father's been sick for a long time and hasn't been happy for years, but I'm selfish enough to want my Daddy to be around as long as possible."
I can relate to that. I just had a health scare w/my mother and my first thought was "I'm not ready to let her go. Not yet!"
I'm glad your news was good.
Hmm. powdered sugar donut diet... now THAT sounds good.
best,

(((Dinah))),
I'm so glad your father's tests came back okay. I know how terribly hard it can be waiting for results like that.
And good for Harry! He's your sweet doggie who deserves to eat powdered donuts for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if he wants, right? ;)
If you need more distractions, let us know. I'm sure we can come up with something fun to do :).
(((Dinah, Dinah's Daddy, and Harry)))
Take care,
LaurieP.S. Are you still seeing your T as much as you can? Was it you who was talking about reducing the number of sessions each week? Maybe now isn't the time if there's too much going on. Just a thought. Sorry if it wasn't you.

I'm proud of you - you are doing a great job. This is a lot of stress for you, but you are holding up.
Rent a movie - I saw "Mona Lisa Smile" last week (I usually don't rent the current releases, the old movies are cheaper) - it was pretty good.
Or find "Butterflies are Free" with Goldie Hawn, for some reason I think that movie would do it for you (but it can be a little hard to find sometimes).
(((((Dinah)))))
(((((Harry)))))Sorry - I didn't mean to get between you two. Let me try that again:

Love,

Dinah,
I'm glad your dad is doing better and his tests did not reveal any huge problems.
Keep taking care of yourself in all of this. You have a lot of people leaning on you.
Eat cream of wheat.
