Italy or Greece... oh, this is so hard, I'm so indecisive. OK, Italy because I love the food.

in the basket is bread, cheese, and wind

after waking up in my chilly stone villa surrounded by abundant blossoms

Greece - more specifically, Santorini Island.
Hmm...now that I'm thinking about it, maybe I should play the lottery this week.

I'd rather use the money for an extra room above the garage, with a slanted roof and a dormer window, with that marvelous glow from wood floors and good lamps. And a big fluffy armchair. Plenty of shelves for books.
And my very own private bath.
Now that's my idea of a grand escape.

Anytime between april 2005 and december 2005....
Why do you ask? Because of weather? Anything to avoid extreme humidity.... :-)

Oh, Dinah, you got me with that one. That's what I'd do, too. Then I'd actually have my imaginary safe place, in real life.
But . . . then on the other hand. I spent a month in Italy once, and it was heaven. If you go there, be sure to get out of the cities. Rome is great, but Florence is Vespa city. Very hectic. And Naples and Sorento are filled with dog poop (among other things). I loved the Cinque Terre, for example.
I hope you get to go to all of these places eventually! *And* get the extra escape room over the garage.

You've probably already seen it, but rent Under the Tuscan Sun.....beautiful scenery and great atmosphere. :-) I think it would be a great way to curl up at home and *endure* a cold....

Greece first, Italy second. Ever since I took art history in college, I've wanted to go to Greece and Italy.
