And now for something completely different....

Posted by deirdrehbrt on January 13, 2004, at 18:29:56

I watched the movie Johnie English today. Rowan Atkinson has the fabulous ability to make anybody laugh, and today I needed to laugh. How fortunate to have him around.
Being in like company, I can only describe him as a nut. The movie is completely ridiculous, asks nothing of the intellect, and renders imagination superfluous. It leaves the viewer with only one job, laughing.
I can't think very well right now, so I'm just ending with this: If you really want to laugh, see this movie.
Dee.

Well, you remember the old adage about laughter being the best remedy. It is a scientific fact that people who laugh and joke a lot tend to live longer and more satisfying lives. Sometimes, even watching "The Three Stooges" with my little girl, and hearing her laugh at the same stuff I laughed at so many years ago, brings me so much pleasure. I don't know why some so-called humor has to be so crass and vulgar to have to draw a laugh. Now, THAT'S NOT humor, it's just plain not right. Smile, laugh find fun when nobody else does...hold on to these moments as they pass.

Of course, my husband and I are such Rowan Atkinson fans that we'd probably pay to see him sit quietly for an hour. :) Well, my husband maybe more than I. But I adored him in Blackadder and The Thin Blue Line. I wish they'd release the rest of that series in the US.

Thanks for the heads up on the Rowan Atkinson movie and I agree that just watching him sit for an hour would be entertaining, He is one of a few select comedians who are able to bring laughs by simply appearing. I had'nt been to the movies for almost a year and then bang I went to three in the last few weeks, "Blizzard","Master and Commander" and "Big Fish" and I thoroughly enjoyed them all. The trailer for the new Tom Hanks movie "The Ladykillers" is hilarious,

Ohh another Rowan fan- sweet! If you can get your hands on it- try renting "Rowan Atkinson LIVE!" A man show has NEVER made me laugh like that one... a good laugh!
