Question about Celexa

Posted by Devil on December 16, 2003, at 14:46:06

I have a friend, who's fiance has recently Cheated on him. Not just once, but had been seeing someone else behind his back. So they break up, he moves out, there's all this drama- blah blah.
They have recently decided to get back together- which, is near heartbreaking to his friends. After having a conversation with her (the cheater) last week. She seems to blame the WHOLE THING (Cheating, lying, sneaking around) on the fact that she was taking Celexa. She said that it numbed her and made her cheat on her fiance.
I took Celexa all winter last year, for seasonal depression and it had no such effect on me.
Does anyone out there know of any situations in which someone was on Celexa and turned into a completely different person. Personally, I think she's using it as an excuse because things did not work out with the guy she left her fiance for.

Can someone please help me understand this?

I took Celexa for about 9 months. It certainly took the edge off both positive and negative feelings and I would say its possible I felt a bit less compassionate about others, but not to the extent of changing my personality. I guess people react differently to medication. But it sounds like just an excuse to me.
