Average Joe watchers

So what did you think of the final ep? I was soooo glad she picked Jason. The show tried to make it about looks vs. personality, but in the end for me it looked like it was head vs. heart-- her head said Adam had such great qualities, but her heart wanted Jason.

The ep was ridiculously drawn out-- no way did it need to be 2 hours. The Rocky / Pool Boy thing was really gratuitous and stupid.

The previews for Avg Joe 2 were something. The new woman is even more beautiful, and the new Joes are even more dorky. I loved that they showed her cussing out the producers after she realized the premise. I wish they had shown Melena similarly flipping out.

It made me kind of sick. I can't tell you why. Not that she should have picked someone she wasn't attracted to, but because in the end looks win over everything for everyone all the time. True, those two needed to get a room and wouldn't rest until it happened. But I looked at them and thought they wouldn't be together a month from now. Also this 'type'; this kind of fried blonde hair (nice when curled) prototype California robot, is that what every television reality show will have for its prize now? What is this world coming to?!

But wait, no-- we have a brunette in the upcoming episode. Those previews were even more disturbing--now the women are getting more beautiful. Soon the rest of will have to be exterminated.

The Rocky thing was one of the most ridiculous things I've seen on TV in a long time.

Was it just me, or did anyone else think that Melena was WAY more into Jason than he was into her?

What's unfortunate is that people in such situations are genuinely unaware of what their motivations are. While acknowledging that the guy was "man pretty," she held that this fact was entirely disparate from the other qualities he had, supposedly unrelated to his appearance. The unconscious directs the desires, and the conscious claims ownership and explaination for them. This happens in everything we do.
It would stand to reason that a beauty queen would seek out the most beautiful mate. It's her overriding concern, and mates are often mirrors of our own self image.
For that matter, all of the average Joes were victims of the same halo effect. I found it amazing that not one guy was unimpressed with her. Quite the contrary, most of them professed genuine love for her. She didn't really strike me as being all that interesting. You'd have to get 50 women together before I'd likely find one I was interested in.
At least she can claim that she didn't go for the rich guy.

Honestly, I was a little disappointed that she didn't pick Adam. Even though he wasn't a model, he really would have treated her soooo well - like a princess. I'm a big fan of the underdog when it comes to these things. I always think of it this way - after the looks are gone, who will treat you better?

In the end, it was her decision and she chose to follow her heart which is what most of us would do. I just hopes that Jason didn't do this for the publicity to start his modeling career.

As for the previews for the next *Joe*, the girl looks like a real witch. No wonder she's resorted to being on a tv show. ;-)

My faith in humanity is restored.
