It seems a sad exerpt from this book but I 'feel' the sadness and emptiness that the author felt when he wrote this.
Is this a bad sign?

I hope not. If it gives expression to something you feel, maybe that is good. Are you feeling safe?

I often use print or movies to feel things that otherwise elude me. Give the feelings a boost. I find it's a good thing for me, but I guess it depends.

never allow "anyone " to do it for you..
you are just as creative as anyone and everyone...
please understand what "WE"see..

you're pretty fantastic yourself jyl. I like the way you write too. I've always thought you'd do well to write a book. :))

In a book called Timegods (sci-fi), there was a theory that increased intellect and technology caused the destruction of great nations. I think it also causes the destruction of individual people in our time. Once upon a time, survival consisted of food, water & shelter. Now food is a guilty pleasure, water is sold in little bottles at numerous stores, and shelter can be found everywhere. Survival now consists of jobs, Wall Street, mortgages, car payments, kids college funds, health/life/car/home/appliance insurance, retirement, social security, utility bills, credit cards, alcohol, illegal drugs, lawsuits, marriages, pre-nups, nasty divorces, IRS, computers at work, computers at home, online socializing, online dating services, doctors, allergies, shrinks, and medication. 15% of us will die of this, 7% will die of that. What % will just die normally of old age? I would like to know.
NO WONDER life is overwhelming and complicated. And no wonder we feel alone. The outside world is dangerous, we don't know our neighbors, and rarely stike up conversations at the grocery store. We feel safer at home, though not completely safe. We have created a world that isolates us.
Whooops, I didn't mean to go on & on.
Take one day at a time. Take care of the basics first. Take care of yourself. It will work out. We'll be here for you.
