I found it!!!!!!!!

Posted by Susy on July 26, 2003, at 11:31:14

Ok, I think I finally found the famous Psycho-Social-Babble, please girls, try to post something here so it will be easy to follow the thread, now I am kind of lost.
Hey, did you guys read in the bottom of the main page where it says --- What you say may conceivable be used against you --- and another one says ---Submiting a message gives me permission to use it as I wish---- do that means we are talking very openly? or do we have to be careful with what we say in the Babble?
Ok, I am stil here, waiting for you all, my coffe is getting cold.

Susy

Oh my gosh! It was great to see your message as the last post on PSB!! And I've only known you two or three days! :) I miss Cher and Mercedes and the others I was just getting to know. I have e-mailed Cher, as it doesn't seem all that safe here...I did just notice, ironically, the message under the links for PB, PSB, PBFaith, etc that it says something like..."If you just want to support somebody just post to the board that they posted in." HUH???

Hi Susy and Daphnis,

Susy, you are a dear and SSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOO funny!

Yea, you ARE here. Did you ever find the section about pleasers/controllers?

I don't know much of the official computer jargon (I don't even know what 'task bar' means), but here goes.

You know how when you entered "I'm here", it created a new 'paragraph'? And when Daphnis and I responded, they were indented? OK. Go to the scroll bar, and click on the gray thing and drag it almost all the way to the bottom. Like if the bar was a scale of l to l0, you would put the gray thing at a 9. There you will find the 'paragraph' that starts "Pleasers w/men who are/controllers Yankeegirl Dr. Bob"

That will catch you up with all of our posts that were 'redirected' to Social cause Dr. Bob didn't think they belonged at 'Effexor'.

Make yourself a new cuppa joe! You have a lot of reading to do! Then you be back up to speed and know what we are all talking about.

Hope I said this right. Yankeegirl

Welcome.

You'll get used to how the format of the boards works. Also, you might want to read the FAQs for more info.

Just curious--do you have the "frames" version of this board open? It should look like a split screen--on the left is the index of all the messages in this time period (when it is full, it will "flip" to the archives and start fresh, but you can always look in the archives). In the middle is a scroll bar for scrolling through the index of messages. On the right is the current post you have open---right now that is mine, I guess! Then, on the right side of the right frame is its scroll bar.

As for the disclaimer paragraph--
"...What you say may conceivably be used against you. Submitting a message gives me permission to use it as I wish. Please be civil."

what I think it means is:
just know that when you post online, you are actually submitting to a published online document that is publicly displayed--probably for perpetuity. Therefore, be conscious of your privacy, identity, etc. As well as illegal activity (like when some people get into discussing illegally selling or buing drugs, etc., which is a "blockable" offense, btw). But mostly--be careful of impulsive posting. In terms of using our messages---if Dr. Bob wants to, he can include things we write in articles he writes or talks he gives. As for the please be civil--you can read the definition at the FAQs. In fact--all of these things are explained more in the FAQ page.

As for safety here--it ebbs and flows. It can be very peaceful for a long time and then erupt into conflict quickly. And then it can get peaceful again. I try to stay away from conflictual threads, myself, something I decided over time.

Susy, YG forgot to mention to go to the bottom of this page after you read this note, way at the bottom, and first click on PsycoSocial (the 4th one, I think). Once you're in there do like she says, scroll down almost to the bottom, like she says, right about 9 on a scale of 1-10. One, being on top.
Hugs,
merc p.s. Thanks YG, I didn't know how to get into it either until I read your note to Suzy.
I'm not posting into it yet. gotta get over this redirect stuff first.

The thing is, where a post is listed will change as other posts are posted, plus at a certain point, it won't even be included in the current listing at all. Another way to direct someone to a post is to tell them its URL (which is at the very bottom of the post). The server will then turn it into a link that others can just click on. For example:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/social/20030719/msgs/244989.html
