Man trapped in bathroom by cat

A Canadian man had to be rescued by police after his cat went berserk and trapped him in a bathroom.

It took two police officers and animal control officer Ron Sabean, to subdue the seven-year-old cat.

The pet was snarling and hissing at the bathroom door in the house near Greenwood, Nova Scotia, when Mr Sabean arrived.

He said: "I've been in this business going on 24 years and I've never seen a cat focus on a person like that one did."

He had been called by police, who were unable to catch the cat on their own.

Mr Sabean said the cat has lived indoors all its life and has had no contact with other animals.

Although it had previously been good with its owners, it has been known to spit and hiss at strangers.

The trapped man suffered scratches in the incident, reports the Canoe website.

Perhaps all the cats have been reprogrammed by space aliens. This could be an early warning sign.

I'd like to know how they do it. I haven't been able to convince the cats to stop clawing the carpet, lusting after the birds at the birdfeeder, jumping on the table, barfing, and so on. Reprogramming could be a boon to humanity (or the humans who live on earth, depending on your definition of "humanity").

Of course, only fans of the Arthur books and animated series will get my joke.

I am and I do. :-)

But I agree -- cats ARE space aliens. Ever notice how their eyes are shaped like the "alien" depictions?

The Arthur books my kids used to read? I guess I have't been keeping up.

Only when they are awake.

Have you ever noticed that when a black cat closes its eyes in a certain light, its face disappears?

Maybe I'm spending too much time watching the cats when they are asleep.

The same.

:-) OK, so I guess you're saying that they really don't look like aliens all that often, right?

OK, I have 2 cats. InkSpot is solid black. He completely disappears in the dark. However, his green eyes seem to "glow" so strongly (more than other cats) that I also call him "nuke".

The other cat, Dusty, is more-or-less solid grey with weak tabby markings on her face. Dusty disappears in complete daylight. We can search the house for her, only to find her sitting in the bathroom, seeming laughing at our inability to see her.

Yeah, that's a really productive exercise. :-)

You got the hint.

Cats are useful for sleep research. Sometimes they are even an effective sleep aid.
