Has anyone ever taken note of not only how our cats love us and visa versa and we come to another in times of need and despair. Here is the real irony though: we seek them out to make them feel well as they do us but we want them to get better. They too want us to be well, but I think they are torn between that and loving us at home with illness all the time for constant attention and entertainment.

oh, ps. They sell catnip tea at the health food store near me (kinda tastes like chamommile)and Aurora and I will each have a bag some nights. Mine in hot water with honey and hers torn open and tossed all over the room...lol

I'd just like to plug the double double quotes feature:

But I don't mean to be pushy. Did you deliberately not use it to link to Amazon? If so, I'd be interested in why, over at Psycho-Babble Administration:

I just said that last night to my (boyfriend...?)...I thought mine was the only kitty who needed an entire king sized bed to herself. But actually she edges her human around conveniently for warmth and leverage--until I have about six inches of bed for myself. My (boyfriend...?) snores so loudly he has to sleep in the other room at the moment. And his snoring wakes me up from there! Of course I have to leave the door ajar so the kitty can come in and disturb me whenever whe wants. Who made that cyber kitty--that was the best cyber face yet!!

That cybercat thingie?

My Medusa doesn't try to edge me out of bed - she thinks I'm the bed. She insists on sleeping on my chest with her head just touching my chin. This morning I woke sleeping on my side. I could hear a thump-thump, thump-thump. She was sleeping on my head! I guess her full weight wasn't on me as it wasn't uncomfortable & her little heart was beating in my ear. This is the first time she's done this - silly girl.

Tony (& any one else), if you have valerian capsules, see if your kitty likes the smell. Most cats love valerian root too. Gets them as excited as catnip does. I bought some just for my kitties & sprinkle it about the floor for them.

Hey jyl...

Your answer made me cry, but in a good way, because it touched me. You are such a good soul. Don't worry though, I have detailed contingency plans for my cats in case "something should happen". I would never ever leave them uncared for or hungry. At this point in time, I am extremely isolated and my cats are my best buddies. Always will be -- I trust animals far more than people. I hope you can cry soon, but in the meantime I can howl for us both and really scare the neighbors!

Hey lifelike, I like your logic. And yes, that wouldn't be so different for me either at this point. Sometimes I think I am traveling over to that feline dimension, just because my cat is my closest companion (as many of you thankfully can understand). I never get tired of watching her. Some nights she travels with me in my dreams, from one to the next, and I swear she *is* traveling with me. She finds a place to make herself comfy in whatever place my psyche is jumping around to, and I'm always glad she's with me. Sometimes I don't know who saved who (she was a feral, starving little thing when we met 8 years ago). What is it about cats anyway?

I found Aurora about 8 summers ago while running at night near my house. She was so tiny that i could not tell if she were a cat or a rat when I left milk out for her that night. As if they don’t think strangely enough about me I can see what the neighbors would think about me feeding a rat out front.

The next night when I went out to run she literally ran to me and scurried up my wind pants--thank God it was a little chilly for only shorts--and continued up my jacket until I clutched her. She was starving, wet and tired. The vet noticed some lacerations and indicated her fighting before I found her. She even has a chipped tooth and a small scar on her nose. Gee, I used to carry her as my friend to the supermarket in my jacket pocket. Now she's 8, owns her own catnip garden, which I help tend as staff, a house she me still reside in.

Gotta love it,

Hey, you ought to nominate "The Third Policeman" for the book club! Sounds pretty trippy to me. It reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode where someone's dog runs through this hole in the wall and gets lost...

Saw that.
Don't the book nominations have to have a depression/psychological theme.?.Anyway after I read that book I bought all of his books but they didn't hold my interest like the third policeman did...

What I find so sad is how many little furry ones die every year unknown & unfound by any one. How can people be so cruel? I don't say everyone has to love cats like us, or any pet really, but why do they allow them to suffer? If one isn't willing to take the responsibility of looking after this little life for their life span, why do they bother getting a pet? Just one more sad throwaway in our "use & dispose" society.

Bless you, Tony, for your kindness.

Everybody says that cats have no loyalty. I don't buy that at all. My two are sweet strays that know when I'm sad, and will keep me company. Yes, they take up more than half the bed, but I never have the heart to kick them out. Cats just seem full of wisdom. They've got a Mona Lisa quality--you can never quite tell what they're thinking, but you know it's got to be something good.

When I'm depressed, or even when I'm not depressed, thinking about all the neglected animals on the planet can really put me over the edge and make me feel devastated about everything. These days I try to just turn it into some kind of prayer and positive thought form in their direction rather than collapsing around it. Don't ask what I go through when I see some poor critter on the freeway (not to get too morbid). Peace to all critters everywhere. Good night.

-you can never quite tell what they're thinking, but you know it's got to be something good.-

ain't that the truth!! And you can't tell me cats don't have a sense of humor either. I think cats are deeply loyal as well as highly intelligent and as we all know, psychic. So my cat must be driving me mad on purpose every night lately, with her mad pouncing!

Thanks for understanding Tony's plight, Kara. I get so sick of his wanting to pet me, pick me up, and ”talk”. I'd honestly prefer that he stays in his quarters most of the time with his music LOW. I also need to increase catnip production (I have my own garden, you know) and possibly decrease labor costs and am considering a variety of staffing options and possibly even a co-op but I need to see the bottom line on profit.

Also, do you know of a good attorney??? I understand that much of this may not be done with malice, but I am getting tired of being picked up, woken up, hugged, made to play with silly toys, petted ect all in exchange for food, but not enough--I am only 21 lbs and feel that he is trying to slowly starve me with these "diets." I don't know what other actions to take aside from kicking Tony out and renting the space to migrant catnip farmers.

No specific theme. It is whatever gets the most nominations every month.

So sorry Aurora but I too am guilty of criminal cat coddling and unsolicited petting annoyances. Also, I don't understand why you won't make coffee for us in the mornings--you know you could if you really wanted to. You better be nice to lostsailor or he'll have to send you to Nip Anon where cats like you go to recover peacefully from catnip compulsions.

Hi< I would just like to thank you for the advice and ideas> Hmmmm...so others cats have to deal with all this human nonsense, too? I must think about this. Perhaps we cats can file a class action suite against out "owners" to better or pampered lives.

Respectfully,

The bed keeps moving. I am so confused. First it's in the garage, then the room with all the windows, then the room with no windows, I'm so confused. I know I'm the new cat and no one trusts me but . . . . hey, a chew toy!!!! Wow!!!!! That feels so much better!!!
