I'm too tired to read through threads and post.
I read Tabitha's post about conflict, though. Rules for conflict are so strange and sub-something, especially between women. I've been wondering about an online group for women learning to deal with conflict ... including intentional conflicts as practice for conflict management skills.
Anyway.

How are you doing, Medusa? Is it your work that's causing your tiredness?
I was reading a book a while ago about girls and how they express conflict. It was very interesting, but I came out of it wanting to check my gender. I can't remember the name now.

I think men and woman take out their aggression and turn to conflict in different ways. A lot of it is sociological, the ways we where taught to express ourselves. Men are taught to "hold it in" and "be tough", and (some) turn to letting it out by physically beating up everyone else. They turn to guns, drinking, and any other substance out there. (In all respect, of course...I don't mean this as being a "blame men" thing.)Women tend to be both passive-aggressive, and also are more likely to talk about their 'issues', and get an issue 'into the open'.
This is where the prejudice in psychiatry comes from, with the whole labeling issues around 'Histrionics' and 'Borderline Personality Disorder'. These are traced way back to some of the sexism in Freud's works. But, with the internet, it is far too easy to type any message, and just hit 'send' as some sort of 'assault'. Men do it in many newsgroups and BBS's. Just by looking a Psycho-Babble Stats, this board contains a higher (way higher!) number/ratio of female posters to male ones.
So, if the 'fights' seem to come out as being female-instigated, I think a combination of the above facts is possibly why.
Just my .02 cents..:-)
Jay
