Somehow this got lost over on PB...
> Last night as I was thinking about you... don't worry no mangos were involved. I remembered what you'd said about liking Gregorian Chants and sixties bubblegum tunes (I love those too)
>
> I remembered a chant which came out about 10 years ago by the "Benzedrine" monks
>
> It was such a dead-on parody of a Gregorian chant, that it was a minute or so before I realized they were chanting the theme song from the Monkees, even then I had to keep listening to make sure. I wish I had a copy I'd send it to you.

First of all, thank-you Tabitha
But how does that happen? I don't go to any different boards, and I know that I started a new thread under Phils joke.... Is it just me this happens too?

You are right. That would be my perfect combination. And as an added bonus, would drive my husband completely crazy. :)
Barry Manilow, the Carpenters, the Monkees, Gregorian Chants, and those are just the ones I've admitted to!!
I know, I know. No one needs to say anything.

But of course I will, I can see a music purist being really offended by a "take off" but it was so well done.My guilty pleasures are Dan Fogelberg, and Annie's song by John Denver...
> I wanted to thank-you both for saying such kind things, compliments like that are about the only thing that leave me speechless... And as for the shot to my self esteem Tabitha, I'd settle for your mental picture of the needle right now.Dinah, its like your above letter "holier than thou" your question seemed perfectly logical to me now I'll be thinking about it.. But when I wrote to Bobby, I was self-conscious about doing the same thing, like well, of course cruelty has to be stopped, but then what is cruelty, other than the obvious inflicting physical pain on someone who doesn't want it, and if the person who is being cruel is under the delusion of being kind then it still has to be stopped, but what if it is uncontrollable and if the people who are angry at this person are also sometimes unreasonably hostile, who decides what, and even mental illness is arbitrary, so what is reality, ..... See what I mean :)

Are you sure we weren't separated at birth? Or perhaps our brains are being used in the same experiment on watching neurons behave like gerbils on a wheel.
You help me lose my inhibitions and say what I'm really thinking Gabbi. I haven't decided if that's a good thing or not....
Hugs,
Dinah

you're welcome dear.
Dan Fogelberg, didn't he do that maudlin tune about I met my old lover in the grocery store, snow was falling christmas eve. Man that used to tug on my prepubescent heartstrings. Of course now I'm all past that. Just don't recite the rest of it, that part about sharing the beer in the car, oh man, need a tissue.

Thats the one that does me in Tabitha
She said shes married to an architect
and that she was doing fine
She would've said she loved the man but she didn't like to lie...
We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to life...Oh I'm tearing up now seriously

And the really cool thing is that I liked you right off, so in a roundabout way (what other way is there for us) it must mean that I like me too.Gabbi-Gabbi

She said whe'd married her an architect,'
who kept her warmand safe and dry,
She would have liked to say she loved the man,
But she didn't like to lie.
I said the years had been a friend to her,
And that her eyes were still as blue,
But in those wyes I wasn't sure if I saw,
Doubt or gratitudeShe said she saw me in the record stores,
and that I must be doing well
I said the audience was heaven
but the travelling was hellWe drank a toast to innocence,
We drank a toast to now,
And tried to reach beyond the emptiness,
But neither one knew how.We drank a toast to innocence We drank a toast to time
Reliving in our eloquence
another 'Auld lang syne'The beer was empty and our tongues were tired
And running out of things to say
She gave a kiss to me as I got out
I felt that old familiar pain
And as I turned to find my way back home
The snow turned into rain..

I hope this guy is stable on meds. This is a happy song for him. GAG! I remember a good friend telling me he was working with his conservative Christian father. They were in a truck going to get plumbing parts and this song came on. His dad never spoke ill of anything but heard that song and said, "Man, that's sickening." hahahaha
<Honey>
See the tree, how big it's grown
But friend, it hasn't been too long, it wasn't big
I laughed at her and she go mad
The first day that she planted it, was just a twingThen the first snow came
And she ran up to brush the snow away so it wouldn't die
Came running in, all excited
Slipped and almost hurt herself and I laughed till I cried
She was always young at heart, kind of dumb and kind of smart
And I loved her so
And I surprised her with a puppy
Kept me awake all Christmas Eve two years ago
And it would sure embarrass her when I came in from working late
'Cause I would know
That she'd been sitting there and crying
Over some sad and silly late late show
And honey, I miss you and I'm being good
And I'd love to be with you if only I could
She wrecked the car and she was sad
And so afraid that I'd be mad, but what the heck
Though I pretended hard to be
Guess you could say she saw through me and hugged my neck
I came home unexpectedly
And caught her crying needlessly in the middle of the day
And it was in the early spring, when flowers bloom and robins sing
She went away
And Honey, I miss you and I'm being good
And I'd love to be with you if only I could
One day while I was not at home
While she was there and all alone, the angles came
Now all I have is memories of HoneyAnd I wake up nights and call her name
Now my life's an empty stage
Where Honey lived and Honey played
And love grew up
And a small cloud passes overhead
And cries down on the flower bed that Honey loved
