Phil
I've been eavesdropping on the 2000 Board and saw your post to Allison. If I could find the post I'd link you to it, but i recall a message you wrote several months ago where you observed that you functioned much better on the Board when you stayed away from the Admin Board. I was struck by your statement at the time and have thought of it many times since then I guess because the same is generally true of me. I just find that the Admin controversies leave me feeling pretty unsettled - it's hard to stay away and there's rarely any real satisfactory resolution to these anyway. I also think these controversies about the administration of the site tend to highlight some of the site's deficiencies and limitations which are easier to overlook in more peaceful times.
I know after the turbulence of the last few weeks this may seem to be a pretty dull place. I think that's sort of inevitable particularly in the summer when maybe we do a little better and don't need the same kind of support, at least those of us who live in the arctic.
i periodically burn myself out here and find it helpful to pull back for awhile. If you do that, please don't go for very long. Your observations are frequently right on the money and besides, we would definitely miss your sense of humor.
BTW, it's wretchedly hot and humid in Vermont, too. The air is much too still. I can't even begin to imagine how people survive living in states like Texas where it's actually supposed to be hot.

Phil, I have to say that for someone who was struggling with anger, you did a great job of calling for moderation and displaying it too.
Take a break if you need to, but know that you did good in the latest little brouhaha. At least in my very not so humble opinion. :D
