Bob is M.I.A, can't get into chat, and my water is shut off. Stupid me forgot to pay bill, now I don't get a shower, have to go to the bill payment office tomorrow (30 minutes in line?), plus call their office (20 minutes on hold?) then could take 24 hrs to turn back on. Brushing teeth with melted ice cubes. I thought it took govt agencies longer than 30 days to react to anything! Grumble grumble grumble.

This calls for a reading of Alexander and the Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. My son and I have a ritual for days like this. (There's a cute video too).

Sounds perfect. :) Are there special cookies involved?

Usually ice cream sandwiches. We call it a pity party. First there is the video, then some snuggle hugs tell each other all about it, then comes the real fun. We whine as loud as we can about everything that went wrong, embellishing where necessary. If we do it just right, we can get the dogs to join in howling. It somehow makes things seem much brighter.
My husband thinks we're nuts. :)

Whoo-hoo! Are you serious? (I think you are). That sounds like fun, especially with the dogs.
Stuff is better now, Dr Bob is back as I'm sure you noticed, and my water is back on. Won't make that mistake again! It's no fun camping indoors. But next time I have a terrible horrible really bad day I'll throw myself a kick-a-- pity party.

I'm serious. And we do it for me too when I've had one of those everything goes wrong days (not the really bad stuff, I wouldn't do that to him).
I suspect that when he gets older he won't find it as comforting as he does now. But for now, he still says "Mom, I think we need to watch that video tonight" when he needs to.
This is the end of the thread.
