lost therapist

Posted by juliedealer on June 18, 2002, at 10:53:51

I had finally found a therapist I could talk to and actually make some changes. But now she has left corporation she worked, I'm not sure of the circumstances but I get the impression they were not good. I wanted to contnue therapy so I had a session with her boss thinking of switching over to her. the animosity she had for my old therapist was thinnly veiled, and her attitude was "there's nothing wrong with you that everybody else doesn't feel" When I asked her if she felt I might benefit from work with her, she responded " well, that's up to you" .

I'm stuck with this particular corporation due to my insurance but I got to tell you I'm pissedd. I've tried to locate my old therapist but I know she lives out of town and the center won't tel me how to locate her ( which I understand).

I guess I'll just have to keep looking for someone else...

there might be nothing wrong with you that anyone else doe'snt feel..but how that affects you is obviously an issue you still need help with..

I don't find psychiatrists particularly helpfull when they come out with these statements that try to homogenize you totally at the expense of being sensitive to how badly things can ruin your life..

Also not venturing any opinion to sell herself..would only be a valid response to a decisive person..

It sounds like this Pdoc is not aware that her process may not be suiting you..does not care (which I doubt) or hopefully is just waiting till she figures out the next step in a framework ..making that classic mistake they tend to make of not telling you this..

Pdocs can be very crusty but that does'nt mean they can't sort out your problem...its worth finding out how well she is rated..and stick it out if the answer is good..

I've been there myself..and had to figure it out the hard way how to appreciate the techniques at the expense of the remoteness...

Julie,

is there a way you can find her on the internet maybe? my therapist also works in another town, and once when I lost her contact info (due to her changing numbers, and then my forgetting her new # during an emergency), I was able to find her on an onine directory of social workers.

good luck!
