OK, it's PAX here. I wanted to vent some angst. After YEARS of trying to get my wife to see a Pdoc, I find that the "earliest" she can be seen as a new patient is AUGUST. Bleeding August!!!!!
What is up with that? The "best" they can do is to let her see a counselor in their practice, and have her GP (who was the one who tried to get the appointment) be the one taking care of her meds.
Oh,of course, if it's a "serious" problem, she can be hospitalized. What kind of sh*t is this?
I asked the "practice" what if the counselor thought she needed a quicker appointment with the Pdoc, would they work her in? She said "maybe" or that they could get her hospitalized. Hello.....?How many of YOU who had been reluctant to see a Pdoc would want your first "visit" to be in a hospital setting? I know that I would probably never have gone to a Pdoc if that was the case.
Don't get me wrong, non-medical counseling has great benefits, and can be very helpful in the begining of a treatment regimen, but it cannot IMHO be the ONLY part offered.
ARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!
Thanks for reading, now back to the world.PAX

Maybe it's a sign that more people are trying to get help, which I guess is actually a good thing. Unless, of course it causes THIS kinda problem. Looks like a job opportunity!

Gee, PAX
All the shrinks I know take the month of August off! It's kinda a joke that people in these parts make off the cuff...But seriously, I am sorry for the delay in getting the appropriate care for your wife. Especially since it sounds like she is ready for treatment now! Not months from now.
I wish the best for you both
