To me happiness and love are illusions. Do they really exist??? And if so, why don't I ever find them???? What is so wrong or bad about me that I've never had them???? I guess I don't deserve them. If this is God's will for my life, then I guess I'm missing the whole point of why I'm even here. :(

Angel Girl,
It is not God's will for you to suffer. God wants you to have life, and life more abundantly. I was once cast down and then I was lifted up. I want you to know that there is a City of Peace that you can go to, and there you will be given the Crown of Life and you will be able to overcome all things. You will be a new person and have love, joy and peace. You will be free from your shakles of dispair. You will be free from the slavery of your unhappiness. You will be free from the manacles of fear. You will be free at last.

AG,
You say, "what is so wrong with me that I have never had them?(happiness, love).
When I was in the City of Peace, I asked why people were unhappy. I was told, "There is an underlying problem that keeps people from being happy. They take pills, but that does not solve the underlying problem. The underlying problem is that they are slaves, and slavery is a very depressing condition to be in." I asked what all the people are slaves to that keeps them from being free and happy. I was given the answer. If anyone wants me to give the answer on this board, then make a post on this thread with your request and I will answer it promptly.

> Angel GirlAngel Girl,
There isn't anything bad or wrong about you. Here are some words of support you
offered another just a few days ago:>>> I think we want to desperately believe that it's not always going to be this way.
We want to believe that someday we will be well. We hang on by a mere thread and
look for that faint glimmer of hope that life has something more to offer us. Don't give
up. Hang on. You won't always feel this way. Someday, somehow something is going
to happen and you'll find your way. I can't promise you it will be easy but we're all here
to help you. I wish I could offer you more help. I don't know what else to say. I need
help right now too. Please keep posting. <hugs><<<<Now is not the time to mull over whether or not happiness exists. Worry about that one when you are over this latest 'bump' in the road of fighting mental illness. You do deserve happiness and love. For now simplify. Scream out for support. Folks on these boards sure do seem to hear the cries for help.
Keep on writing. You are valuable, worthy, and kind. I have surmised that from the
few posts of yours I have come across.Tackle the existential questions later. For now just keep on hollering out for help until
you get some that makes sense to you.I believe in you AG.

I've finally learned that you have to love yourself first. And it can start with simple practice stuff, too. Be sincere and nice with a store clerk, they can tell the difference after being hammered all day. Let people go in front of you when nobody else will let them on the freeway. Introduce yourself to your neighbors.
Be kind to a child. These thingsI think, are all forms of love and respect.
Want happiness and you're trying to 'find' it. It ain't out there Angel Girl, it's an inside job.
You will never find happiness by trying to find it in a lover, a new VCR, or even friends don't always make us happy.
God has a will for your life...free will. You deserve love as much as anyone. But nobody owes it to you. God does not wish bad things on people. We do that all by ourselves.
You'll make it Angel Girl but I think the point to life is there is no point.

Phil;
I have to say,"Amen" to several of your responses.
First, your exercise of being kind to others is one of the Gates on the Road to the Crown of Life.
Second, I have to say "Amen" to your insight that you can never find happiness in material things or in another person. One of the things that I found out when I was in the City of Peace was that we are slaves to the materialness of the world. We have been made to believe a lie that material things will bring you happiness.
And third, you believe in a God that wants you to have an abundant life, free of suffering, and I have to say "Amen" to that.
But Phil, reasonable men disagree and being reasonable, I disagree with one of your observations. But that can be done via email unless you want me to post my disagreement here.
But Phil, I believe that the disagreement is too small for us to argue about it. I believe that your posts indicate a love for God and that is what counts to me.
Shalom, Phil.

I don't think happpiness can be said to be any more of an illusion than unhappiness. We live in a quantum universe. We *know* now that there is no yin without it's corresponding yang, no light without dark. Light itself, which is it? Particle or wave? Both-- just as happiness and unhappiness are two interweaving threads--patterns that weave themselves, patterns we sometimes weave--of this thing called life.

I believe that it does exist ... somewhere ... its a matter of letting yourself find it. Its always there, wanting to be found and waiting to be found ... we have to be willing and ready to embrace it ... ya know? Just a thought ...
