Two people I was acquainted with committed suicide this week, Sar and my friend's daughter, age 25. Also this week, another man who I greatly admired, suddenly and unexpectedly, died during surgery. Aside from the grief, I have a strange, unsettling feeling that death can happen at any time. I know this to be true: We never know when a disaster will come or when our friends will die, but this is so much loss all at once. And my grief is nothing compared to those who knew them well.

Like Shakespeare said, troubles come not one by one, but in battalions...this truely seems to be the way of life, unfair as it is...
