I was wondering if anyone who chats on PB Open could tell me if one could register & listen in on the conversations without actually joining in. It's not that I want to eavesdrop on others but with PB, it originally took me a while before I felt up to posting, sort of lurked for a while like many others.
Can I register for Open & simply listen before I decide whether I wish to join in or not?

Hi Iso,
I can't answer your question about PB Open, but I wanted to read more about your experiences with adrafinil without putting you in a position of violating any board policies. I'll check the "post your email address" box above. Will you write me off-forum sometime? Don't worry -- I'm happily married, responsibly employed and too busy to be a nuisance to anyone -- even my elderly parents complain that I don't write often enough! ;-)
Thanks,
Mark H.

IsoM,
We just checked it out for you. It appears that you can't lurk in chat. And I had always thought you could.
But you can join and unjoin if you wish. I've done that in other groups. And if you tell us to, we'll just ignore you so that you can listen all you want. And I for one promise I won't be offended if you decide to unjoin.
You probably would want to set up a yahoo e-mail account with an alias though. It shows your e-mail address and a few people have gotten a nasty surprise when they used their real account with their real name.

I think that's what I'll do, Dinah, though not tonight. It's getting too late. Thanks for saying if I decide to unjoin you won't be offended. I've never joined a chat before, it's not the sort of thing I feel comfortable about. But I'll give it a try under a different name. Will let you know here who I am though.

If you want to remain as anonymous as possible, I wouldn't post who you are here...I'd wait for chat and let the others know once you're actually in the room.

I think it's only fair to warn you, IsoM, that there are usually only between 2-6 chatters at any given time. Unless you think you can disguise your witty, intelligent, and energetic style an alias might not work too well. But we'll agree not to "recognize" you if you like.
I frequently drop in about 9:30 eastern time. It usually gets busier closer to 10:00 eastern.
We'd love to hear from you, but don't feel pressured. :)

Mostly us regulars at chat from babble, if a stranger pops in the bolder ones will interrogate them. The other night one of my little angels got up with cramps in her legs and I kept the chat open but missed everyone as they slowly wondered off into the night. I think you would be pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere.
