Saw the psych today. she's the same psych I had been seeing since last summer and I demanded a dx. she looked through my file again--she said for the third time today-and said she'd classify me as borderline with ADHD and GAD. She gave me a prescrip for Seroquel. I'll keep ya up to date.

I'm glad you had a better experience today. Let us know how you are doing on the new medication. Did she mention the possibility of DBT or other therapy? I understand that DBT has a pretty good track record. I read Linehan's (sp?) book and it seemed pretty sensible as well as compassionate. I don't know if they have any DBT groups where I live, but I sometimes think it would be worth looking into, since it looks like it would have applicability to other problems as well as borderline. Unfortunately, I think that maybe I wouldn't like a group situation too much. However, the skills training part seems helpful.

Hey Tina,
Just saw this Sat night, early Sunday, actually...I am glad she finally gave you a dx, and that you demanded it. The question is, is this a dx you can live with? Is it what you think you are, after having read up on things and talked to everyone here...? There are a lot of people who think the Borderline dx is a catch-all, or garbage-dx, all the stuff you can't fully understand gets dx'd as borderine... I'm not sure where I stand on this, but it has been discussed by greater minds than mine (not too tough!), several times on PB and PSB.
What is Seroquel and what's it supposed to do for you, in the dr's opinion?
You were very brave to try all this again, I hope encouraging you to do it won't have you cursing me in a few months (!!!). But seriously, I DO believe in the efficacy of meds and therapy, and please keep us up to date. If you want to check in about the meds, anything, please go ahead, bounce stuff off us, we'll listen and respond...
