might be hospitalized tomorrow

Posted by adamie on August 12, 2001, at 19:10:16

i am feeling too horrible. every day is becoming so hard. i am crying very constantly. i need to be put in a safe place. how can i have gone from being perfectly happy to so severely depressed. i wish i had never taken that horrible accutane. it has nearly killed me. the effexor anti depressant i am taking now is maybe making me worse. i have been taking it for 5 days. although i think i was getting very bad before i started taking it. maybe med change tomorrow to wellbutrin. and i'll be safe. :*. i hope to have my life back

Adamine

Have you ever been in the hospital for depression or anything else before? Like you said it is a safe place. Each time I was hospitalized for depression I found it helpful. If you are let us know that you are okay as soon as you get back.

BEST WISHES
Willow

adamie,

I am with Willow. The hospital can be a very safe place. Some of these meds can take a few weeks to have an impact, and it can help to be someplace where you can be taken care of while the doctors can figure out just what meds are needed to do the trick. Going into the hospital helped me get my life back. Just keep talking to your doctors and letting them help you.

adamie,
sometimes is just best to sit in the passenger seat and let someone else drive... maybe your trip to the hospital will allow you the necisary time to let things sort themselves out... i wish that happiness were a comodity that was assured in life, that way as long as we all paid our bills on time we'd be sure to have grins on our faces just from watching the sun set, but since we dont always get what we want its a lot of work to get there... just be well and let them take care of you, my first 5 days of effexor was like living on a hell planet... it gets better... you'll get better, keep thinking that thought and it will help you allong...

You don't need a hosptial, my dear, but instead a good lawyer who will file a personal injury lawsuit against Hoffman-La Roche for compensatory and punitive damages. I am searching around to see if there's a class-action suit against this company with this product and despite the horror stories re. this drug, I see nothing concrete; however, this is not to say that there isn't one planned, so I'll keep looking and asking around. If I find anything, I will post all information here. Companies such as Hoffman-La Roche should be made responsible for the crap they put out without any longitudinal testing.

Good luck tomorrow ... you are in my thoughts ... you will recover.

hi. i will see how i feel on effexor tomorrow. if at the peak concentration time i am feeling my worst then i know it's making me worse. i dunno what will happen tomorrow. at the moment i feel i wont be at the hospital. but just very recently i was feeling so bad that i felt i had to. i will see how things go. last time paxil wasn't working at all. when i stopped it made me feel significantly better. a huge improvement actually. so perhaps seratonin meds make me worse. i will see how things go. the hospital can wait for now unless things turn worse. my mood is unstable.

Here's my prescription for you meanwhile you are waiting for your meds to kick in:

* lights out by midnight, alarm set for 10am
* rent a good movie for each day, (I just saw 3000 miles to Graceland and enjoyed it)
* pick one simple chore to do each day and do it even if you don't feel like it
* if you smoke, go outside to smoke
* sit outside twice a day for an hour
* if you nap during the day, set an alarm or have someone wake you up in an hour
* phone a friend, or ask one to visit you each day, and ask about their plans
* start keeping a journal
* (my favourite) make "to do lists," the time limit for your goals can be indefinite
* mark on a calender 6 weeks and three months, by this time you should see improvement

Are you getting counselling? I call it talk therapy. It isn't a cure but sure helps.

Meanwhile we're here for you ...
