What do you do when ...

Posted by Willow on June 12, 2001, at 22:27:20

you don't care anymore? or just in a major rut? can't be bothered with trying to make an effort?

Obviously somehow I've managed to find myself in a corner and I want to sit here and pout. How long will this last?

And why are we able to go through the motions?

Anyone know any good jokes?

Here is a sort of joke:

Having a smoking section in a restaurant
is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool.

If you can laugh, you're still there; laughing is a pro-life gesture.

Willow, my dear, stop that pouting and get a grip! If you don't get a grip, then I'll get a grip! Which side of you is the grippiest?

Here's an old joke that I posted during the last 1000 years:

A man walks into a doctor's office for a physical. When the doctor leaves the room, the man wraps himself, from head to toe, in cellophane. The doctor returns and says, "Mr. Jones! I can clearly see you're nuts!"

When all else fails, smile.

When I worked for the U.S. Government many moons ago, I was complimented on some job I did exceptionally well. The Director said that there should be more people like me, to which I scoffed "My God, no! One of me is enough!"

You, my dear, are one in a million ... be grateful and thankful of this fact. And I don't believe in doppelgangers either, so there!

A blind man was seen waiting at a street corner with his guide dog. After a short wait the dog started leading the blind man
across the street against the red light. First a car comes screeching to a halt inches away from him, but still the dog leads on,
then a bicyclist almost wipes them out and curses as he goes by. Finally in the last lane a truck swerves and barely misses them.

After they reach the far corner the blind man reaches in his pocket and pulls out a cookie and offers it to the guide dog. At this
point another person who has watched the entire episode interrupts asking why he was rewarding the dog after the dog had
endangered his life and almost got him run over by a car, bicycle and truck.

The blind man responded: "I'm not rewarding him, I'm just trying to find out which end is his head so I can kick him in the ass."

Hi Willow,
when I do not care anymore, I know it's me, because i firmly believe that the world out there is astounding and full of rapture. Therefore it is me who is stuck in a 'bored god complex'. Then I sit down quietly, and do nothing resisting urges to move and to do anything. Eventually the desire to do some specific thing becomes overwhelming, and I fashion all sorts of reasons for me to stop sitting and start going. that is how I deal with 'I do not care anymore' scenario: I force myself to 'not care' even more. the trick here obviously is to take over something that was taking over you, and bring it to the absurd extreme.

That's a funny joke. Yesterday I would have chortled out loud. But I barely cracked a smile. Feeling sorry for myself. Not knowing how to get out of the situation I am in.

An airplane was flying from New york to Paris when it started to shake and shatter violently.
A woman stood up in the back and yelled "i don't want to die, help me, I refuse to die without ever having felt like a woman. Is there anyone who will stand up and make me feel like a woman?"

A tall man stood up in his seat and began to walk toward her. Taking off his shirt, she could see that he had good muscles and strong arms and he had very sensual eyes.

He came directly toward her and threw the balled up shirt into her hands and said "I'll make you feel like a woman..........IRON THIS!"

I know it's lame but I had to try.
You know I love ya Rach.

Three big cheers to the cyber gang! Laughter sure is the best medicine.

Shar, I am a chain smoker and one of those mothers who tells their children to swim
deep and go when nature calls. And I thought I was perfect except for the smoking
habit! Thanks for the reality check.

Mila I’ll follow your advice since it goes along with my own philosophy. Whenever I get
bored I do housework and this always gives me better inspirational ideas. Yes my
house is a creative mess.

Tina I hope you don’t mind I already shared it with a friend. Just imaging him taking off
his shirt sparked some life into me.

Rach I wish I could reach out and give you more than a cyber-hug.

And Kazoo, what am I to do about you? Perhaps you are the source of my anguish.
After a week of feeling down my house is impossible. And you make me go searching
for a dictionary. For your sin you can grip anyway you want and I will try to keep on
pouting!!

Thanks again!

Willow,
I too am a smoker. I just thought the imagery in that quote was a hoot! Not to worry--I'm sure you ARE perfect except for the smoking. We do, after all, live in the real world that does have smoking sections.

Shar
