shar - dentists!

Posted by coral on October 31, 2000, at 7:35:23

Dear Shar,

I have TWO wonderful dentists searching for you. One's going to check through the state registry (I guess they have a special category for dentists with hearts!) However, they both want to know what towns are nearby you, so they can make referrals as close to you as possible. I told both of them that you needed an especially humane, compassionate, listening dentist who's not afraid to REALLY use Nitrous since you're worse than I am in terms of dentists --- they both laughed hysterically LOL
So, please either post some towns that would be convenient for you, (Austin's so big...) or send to my e-mail. coralcarson@excite.com
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi Coral,
Thank you SO Much for doing this!!! I'm a bit confused that they didn't think Austin would have a good angel-dentist? There are a ton of dentists here.

Towns that would be near enough to commute to (an hour or less drive) include Round Rock, Lago Vista, Lakeway, Bastrop (sort of), Leander, San Marcos, Pflugerville, Jonestown, Georgetown, Salado...these are all really little towns for the most part. San Marcos has a university. I live outside of Austin, and it takes me about 45" to drive into the city.

Oh--I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth (so to speak) but I also want a really good (as in good technical skills) dentist. I am also looking for a periodontist. One of my problems: I want it all!!!

Thank you. You will get a ton of Karma credits for doing this!

Shar

Dear Shar,

Please give me the towns in order of closest to you to make it as easy for YOU as possible! I think they thought of Austin as this huge megaopolis and wondered about suburbs... that sort of thing, but who knows? The two dentists are superb technically as well as humanely. I've used both, and in fact, only switched because one didn't take our new dental plan and was lucky enough to find the second Angel-Dentist. I would trust any referral from them. To them, competence means superior dental skills in the hands of a compassionate person. And, we're adding a peridontist to the list!

Nothing wrong with wanting it all - I wholeheartedly believe that. Thanks for the Karma points but before you assign them, let's make sure we find someone who can be a GREAT dentist for you first! :)

Coral,

While you're searching for dentists, you wouldn't happen to know a sure-fire cure for Laryngitis would you?

Seriously, thank you for helping my dear friend Shar with this. She is so very deserving of all the good things in life...and so are you.

Dear Greg,
Thank you for the kind words! As a matter of fact, I do know a sure-fire cure for laryngitis! Lemon, honey, brandy in sugared, mint tea! (Southern tradition) This works, especially if you drink ALOT of it! LOL In my work, I do a great deal of public speaking and actually do carry a mixture of xylocaine (something my dentist gave me --- don't I have GREAT dentists?. If I lose my voice or get a sore throat, I gargle with it (it is NOT to be ingested - a numbed esophagus feels very weird), and it does work. I prefer the first remedy, but my clients might find out I'm nuts if I whipped out a bottle of brandy from my briefcase!

Shar is lucky to have such a good friend as you.

Laryngitis: Side Effect of Knee Surgery? » Greg

Greg,
Hi! You sure got my curiousity up with this request! Have you been telling your surgery story too often? Or, lying in bed eating bon-bons while you're on the phone all day?

I think they make something like Chloraseptic which has some sort of topical anesthetic in it, but don't forget that your body is telling you it has a problem, and the simple solution is the recipe Coral described sans the liquor + don't talk.

I sure hope you are doing ok,and thanks for the kind words! Let me/us hear from you, update-wise.

xoxo

Coral,
Austin city limits population is about 600,000 and including all surrounding areas (the "metro" area) up to one million. It's the 27th largest city in the US.

Where I live, anything with an Austin address would be more convenient than any of the surrounding cities I named. But, if the best candidate is in one of the surrounding cities, I'll go to any of them!

Does that help at all? Austin is smaller than Dallas-Ft. Worth, San Antonio, Houston, etc. Not like a sprawling huge city with suburbs that are like little cities in themselves.

Oh, I did identify a perio guy named Broline as a possibility because his listing said he used all sorts of sedation.

Again, Many thanks to you, and I'm sure you get karma credits for just taking the time to be so thoughtful!

Shar et all,

Actually, I've been smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo...don't tell me I've nothing to do.

The knee is feeling better but still pretty swollen, I get the stitches out today. I'll be back kicking field goals in no time. I returned to work on Monday, no sympathy here my friend! The Laryngitis is the worst thing though. I always get it around this time of year when the rain starts and the temps get a little cooler. Remember "froggy" from the Little Rascals? You get the idea... The meds are still working great! I haven't felt this good in such a long time...I didn't think it was possible. It may not last, but gonna ride this puppy for all it's worth!

I hope you and Coral are able to hook up soon on a dentist for you. Drop me a line and let me know how you are and how the faire went.

XXOO,
Greg

Dear Shar,

The dental search has taken longer than I'd anticipated and didn't want you to give up hope. The search is still on!

Coral,
Patience is my middle name. (Actually, it is Suzette.) I know these things take time. No problem. I am so appreciative of someone taking the time to look I will happily await the information.

I am so sorrrrry........
