i have biten, chewed, nawed and pealed my nails sense as far back as i can remember, now i am 'thirty something."
i am being treated for depression and for anxiety at this time, does anyone think nail biting to the extreme, could be a obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorder? i dont see my doctor for another week and would like others opinions, advice or if you can relate.

Everyone may have his or her own opinion about this, but I personally don't think nail biting is a symptom of OCD as it is a symptom of anxiety, and in the extreme, perhaps general anxiety disorder or social anxiety. I, too, have been a long-time nail biter, and at their worst, I would have put my nails up against yours any time. However, on anti-anxiety medication, I don't bite, pick, or chew at them nearly as often. I even enjoy getting a manicure these days.

OCD requires obsessions, which are obsessive thoughts, and compulsions, which are the behaviors. Things like checkers, washers, cleaners, behaviors that involve a pattern or number, ect.
