My meeting over the weekend was great, but I am an anxious mess tonight. The work on my house is ongoing. The contractor was here until 7:30. No water, no refrigerator, no food, no beer for two hours after I got home. The dust is thicker than I've ever tried to live in. Yesterday, they found frogs in the kitchen wall (that is not a typo). Tonight he informed me that there is evidence of mice as well.
Did I mention that the one big, honking phobia I have is of MICE?????????????????? I really might have to move to a hotel. My skin is crawling, I'm on the verge of a major anxiety attack and I want my T.

She'll be back soon.
Hold on. The hotel sounds like a great idea. Your own Camp Comfort.
all my best,

(((TherapyGirl)))
I totally understand.
As far as the mice, well I think most houses have had a mouse or two in the walls at one point or another. It might not be recent evidence. And even if it is, the contractor is there to make sure they don't get out of those walls. I think it's possible to stuff aluminum mesh in the areas around the pipes so they can't get in.
I totally agree with how revolting they are. We found out about aluminum mesh after we found evidence that a mouse had visited the cupboard next to the sink. We still don't use that cupboard or the one next to it, even though the mesh has apparently worked well. There just isn't enough bleach to make using the dishes that were there seem appealing.

Yipes. Frogs in the walls? eeepp. And mice?
Can you afford to a hotel, until there's something to take care of the mice and frogs? Maybe it would be worth it while the dust is so thick and the contractors come at ungodly hours of the morning.
Seriously, a lot of people do move out briefly during major construction. and if there are living creatures being unearthed-- I really think it's entirely rational to get away. It sounds awfully stressful--
When is your T back?

Thanks, Nadezda. I can go to a hotel if I have to, but I generally don't sleep well in hotels either. I spent several hours watching tv at a friend's house tonight and that helped a bunch. She said I could hang out there tomorrow, too.
T is back next week. I talked to her on the phone today and she sounds more ready to come back than she did last week. One week from tonight. I hope I can make it.

TherapyGirl,
I wish I could help with the frogs and mice. I was trying to picture one eating the other but unfortunately there's no possibility there... a snake could take care of both but I have a feeling you wouldn't like that either. ;-)As for the T coming back... really hold on. My returned today and I can't believe how different I feel. I was in my lowest low on Monday I can ever remember. REAL bad. Just hold on. I know a week feels so long.

Thanks, FMD. Less than a week now. Surely I can make it.
Cabinets and counters going in today, so that should make it harder for all things creepy and crawly to get in.
This is the end of the thread.
