I have been remembering a lot lately about my dad's suicide. I was only 5 when it happened. Lots was forgotten for many years, but this year I have begun to remember things.
I want to keep remembering. How can I intensify this? anyone know of therapy or medicine or anything that could help me remember my dad?

there is a wonderful book called "the body remembers" - you might want to check it out - it posits you already remember your dad - it's all right there - you just have to recover the internal landscape in a conscious dialogue.
Books dealing with trauma can help too - if you want a list - you can babble mail me.

"The Body Remembers" is a great book. Other techniques that help are "two voice" writing -- allowing a conversation between the part of you that is curious and the part of you that is the secret keeper. Just write questions and then write down the answers that pop in your mind as fast as you can. You'll be surprised what comes out.
Good luck with this.

Thanks to both of you guys for the response. I look forward to getting the book, and trying out the writing thing.
Daisy, I have never heard of writing something that way, it is an interesting idea. Have you ever tried this? I hope I will be able to do it without thinking too hard. That usually is my problem with EVerything! lol.
When I search the subject of memory and repressed/recovered memories, all that comes up is mostly about sexual abuse. I wonder if there is any therapists that work with people who are just curious about things. I wasnt abused, but I have had secrets kept from me about my dad forever...
anyway, thanks!
