so i'm trying to understand about the 'test optional' and even 'gpa optional' policies that have been introduced -- supposedly in the name of equity or fairness.
but i think the idea wasn't 'these kids have been stealing training places that were rightfully someone else's'. the idea was 'these parents are paying thousands of dollars for phoney test scores or phoney grades and that is money we would rather go to the university in the form of fees or alumni donations or whatever'.
i think about how much our government officials are paid... and i think about how some people pay 70 or even 90 per cent their income in new zealand to live in other peoples substandard and unhealthy rental properties while other people don't even pay 50 per cent of their income to send their kid on a full ride to a top private american university.
civil servants. that's how much they take from the government.
there was this thing about a kid who got a place at Harvard... the whitest of the white maaori... excellence in NCEA... i remember all the kids at salmond college saying that they all got excellence in NCEA... everybody did. but apparently she also had the top violin teacher. i imagine she had the only violin teacher. i mean to say the only person who was allowed to play the violin. i mean to say teh only person who was allowed enough money to play teh violin. i mean to say the only person who was paid to teach the violin. i mean to say teh only person who was able to have a violin without someone stealing it or whatever. great.
and so i see what that's about, really.
and i don't feel jealous... i feel disappointed. to thinkt hat thats actually whats going on and that's actually how things go.
why don't people want to work towards something worthwhile?
_______
so i don't beleive the news or wikipedia or much of anything at all, now, in the days of the internet. it's clear that our media is just an endless stream of propaganda. has been for the longest time.
it's like art you read it or whatever and you ask yourself: how do i feel in response? what emotion is the work intended to invoke or evoke?
and the art is very very oppressive in new zealand and has been for a very long time. taking the piss art is something that springs to mind. apparently it is something to do with the lawyers and the accountants and those in teh know as to how you spam applications for funding for the arts. so the money goes to them on the side rather than to artists...
that makes sense. of why there isn't any. of the level or degree of talent. of what we deem excellent. becuase it's already decided that this kid or that adult is excellent and everything else is just a retrospective rationalisation or justification of that.
that some people have all the stuff and some others don't have stuff. have been thrown to the rubbish.
teh buildings are substandard and so on to scare people away. so reputable people. knowledgeable peopel. skilled people. so they run away. the superficial aspects. it's really just to hide and protect the few murderers and tortureres and rapists and so on...
apparently the cartwrite inquiry didn't lead to the experiement stopping.
i suppose the true nature of the experiment wasn't just that he was watching women die of cervical cancer without informing them they had cancer and without informing them of treatment options or currently accepted best treatment options... it was worse than that...
he was taking cervical cells from newborns. without their parents permission. to look for abnormalities. i bet these people were pressured rather a lot to have smears for however many years after that...
i imagine it was worse than that... likely when we took a biopsy sample he intentionally infected the infant with this or that or the other strain of HPV. i imagine that was the idea, really, to do a 'longitudinal study' on the effects of HPV infection. they would say it wasn't really an experiment just an observational study.
like the observational studies of rheumatic fever from intentionally withholding antibiotic treatment for strep infection.
like the observational studies of that black mould in the cold in your house fungis in your lungs that becomes metastatic cancer / sporulates around the body...
i'm sure we could go on with all the unauthorised medical trials new zealand repeatedly and routinely inflicts upon it's own population.
uv radiation and skin cancer. natural progression of skin cancer when it isn't removed. likely toxic effects of whatever it is they've bene putting in the sunscreen for however many years...
and then glass and bone health -- or how much you can destroy people's bone health and immune system by preventing access to sunlight. in the prisons. in teh hospitals. in the aged care facilities...
just on and on and on and on and on and on and on...
they actually are required to train me. to be accountable to the new zealand public.
they actually are required.
if the judiciary refuses to uphold rule of law and get the exective to follow the laws then the government has no claim to legitimate power.
none..
nada...
zip.
zilch.

Though I guess the thing is the people with money trying to scam the public systems.
Better that someone with money buy a place at Harvard than use the money to steal a public training place in a public university.
You could have whole schools set up precisely for that.
I guess you do have something like that. The way some of the private schools market... The kinds of kids they are trying to attract.
Whether it be academics or social scene or reputation or whatever...

In New Zealand there's this 'ideal' of 'we are ordinary working class folks who should have quality public sector everything'...
They expect to be paid several hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. And they expect that money that they take from the government... Tehy expect that money to not have to go to pay for things like private health insurance or private schools for their kids or anything like that. They think they deserve those pay-checks and they shouldn't have to pay for those things.
So we ended up with certain areas with the best of teh public resources. Which drove up the house prices. So these people could tell themselves / pretend to be all humble and working class regular folk... In their public ungated neighbourhood...
But using public resources for private advantage, so...
Now they are all 'wah wah wah' about them starting to want to clamp down a bit on school zoning. They are saying parents will be required to send their kids to x or y school if they are public schooling their kids. They won't get to choose.
What do you have to do to get them to pay money for schooling their kids.
They charge their tenants 80 or 90 per cent their tenants income to keep them in cold unhealthy homes... They refuse to pay 10 or even 20 per cent their own personal income for their kids to have private school education / not be profiting or benefiting or being carried by the public sector.
Why do they get paid so much money?
What are they supposed to spend their money on?
Slum landlordism is all...
ffs.

apparently our GDP is up.
i think it is because of the formula... whereby exports minus imports puts us at a loss.
because we liked to import vast volumes of rubbish from india and china and so on. vast volumes of rubbish produced by slaves or workers working in conditions of slavery.
the volumes of rubbish that new zealanders would only purchase if they were forced to by the new zealand government. for example, the vast volumes of new zealanders required to get work and income welfare quotes for items so they were forced to purchase mostly not fit for purpose stuff that would break because the government requred them to purchase vast volumes of rubbish.
so putting a limit on imports because of covid means out GDP is increased.
i think that's what happened there.
GDP went up with the lock down and stay at home.
and all the empty apartments...
still empty...
there's hardly anything on the rental market. it's a... fixing... thing that they do. they decide what property is right for you. where you are allowed to live, and so on.
they thought it was hilarious joke that i'd live so close to the medical school... so close... so close... and then they'd build up the homeless and child abuse slums and so on around me. the drugs and prostitution and crime element all around me.
because i've been saying all my life 'you realise that this and that the other way you do things forces people to a life of crime etc... don't you'?
?
and of course they interpreted that as 'permission to carry on'.
because...
they're nasty.
they're nasty like that.
and why would i help them?
why, i wouldn't.
they don't pay me.

where's the money?
where's my money?
where's my share of the money
where's the money for the work that i do.
you are required to pay competent people to prosecture offenses.
you are required to pay competent people to process applications.
and so on.
and they don't do any of the things that they are supposed to do.
cry cry cry cry cry for handouts...
we know where the vaccines will go in new zealand because we know where the flu shots went earlier in the year and we know where the mmr vaccines go, too...
we know...
and i know people want to market that evil predimonates and triumphs. because that's what they are. and it's just a few. a few who are adept at putting the fear into... throwing more than their weight around...
and the world knows them to be pests.
but it can be a whack-a-mole situation.
people will grub the vaccines before they are supposed to have them.
and they deserve what they get if they are prepared to do a thing like that.
when they know full well they can protect themselves with ppe and they have money and they had time to invest in researching and purchasing the equipement to protect themselves... some of them did. so if they grubby grubby grub vaccines for themselves... when those vaccines are supposed to be for the most vulnerable people who don't have the power to protect themselves with ppe and the like...
they deserve...
well...
what would 'cutting corners on a longitudinal study' look like. a longitudinal what?
they set up something that looks suspiciously like ACC to deal with any issues arising from vaccines (so as to effectively silence that constituency).
what seems to be most plausibly what they are up to?
population cull, i suppose.
just stay out of it and let things play out.
the worst of the gubbity grub grubs who believe tehy are in teh position to put themselves first.

so she got early decision offer from Harvard without an offer of funding. that means she (and her parents) signed a contract saying they would pay the fees associated with the 4 year degree. I don't know how much she is required to live on campus with a campus meal plan etc etc but she financially committed to that.
i didn't have anything to lose applying for early decision. which is... a bit cheeky, to be fair, i suppose...
but i do wonder if her parent knew what they were signing up for -- because they are committed to paying the entire amount.
i get that the extra-curricular stuff is about trying to justify letting people in with lower grades or whatever. less academic inclincation or capacity or whatever. they can say that they excel because of their sports or whatever. they like to say because they are socially skilled. by which they typically mean they are good at placating bullies.
they say they are need blind for domestic students. that is a huge deal. admissions decisions are independent of ability to pay. if true... then i guess those early decisions really really are about collecting up the money to distribute down the track. they say they are need aware on internationals. which is fair, i suppose.
i would likely criticise them or think a bit worse of them if they prioritised things for me when they had an equally talented person in their backyard who also needs a hand up. because there's something particularly bad about being ignored or held back by people in your vicinity etc.
nz still doesn't get me. the poor maaori think they have some claim on or over me. that i need to be taught a lesson in compliance. they don't understand (they seem to lack the capacity to understand) that there are certain things that slaves won't do. and they (and their people) won't get things like healthcare and education and the like until they learn to listen a little.
i am always berated by people for not listening to them... they ask a question and i answer and i say stuff and they want to have their rant. their lecture. their time to speak. they want to give me a little lecture on how i don't listen to them and so on. then once they've talked themselves out i can say 'well, for the third time x' in response to their question.
and the issue is i came back to this country in 2012. and my patience is all worn out. because they would like me to be homeless to teach me a lesson in compliance if i don't comply with them... that's what they would want / will for me. and life expectancy for the homeless is around my age. and mostly it's death by suicide. but they would happily have that fate for me if i don't comply...
all i asked for was for a registered and qualified electrition to come out and write down various options for bringing the building into healthy home standards so we would have some kind of initial quote estimate.
that's what i asked for.
over
and over
and over
and over
and over
and overand still -- they bring papers to the tenancy tribunal that sue from reception thinks the current heater is wired okay and that an electrition signed off on everything with no mention at all of an installed heater.
are tehy really that stupid?
what's the f*ck*ng problem?
they call me bully and they call me abusive and so on that they refuse to sign the form to authorise a qualified electrition to provide a (free) costing.
i made it clear i wasn't demanding they take the electrition up on any of the options. i was willing to look into what sources of funding may be available.
they were determined that the kids could simply run inefficient oil column or whatever heaters all the time. because, you know, we don't give a sh*t about efficient heating or climate change. not interested.

so by getting rid of me they reckon they bring the crime rate down in the neighbourhood. because i phone the police when someone is screaming and when someone is smashing things up (not always but sometimes) but it would bring the crime rate down if people would shut up and report things a bit less.
they can keep it in house.
and, i don't know, fight it out. knives next? guns? i don't know... they would rather do that than have a couple kids who are capable of living without creating problems in the neighbourhood mixed in amongst working professionals and elderly people and so on... with quality housing.
they would rather have a tribe where the most aggressive bully is the tyrant over the people.
well okay.
good luck with that.
i mean... what am i supposed to say?
and they go 'wah wah wah we give you everything and you still want more'.
uh, i should have been selected to medicine. several times over. but you got it into your head a place to me was a place for someone who was not your chosen kid and you choose your chosen kid who will bully and abuse you when they get the chance becaues that's what happens when you get people who comply (they fester behind closed doors).
it's like when there's a bump under the rug and you push it down and the bump pops up someplace else... if you force people to comply it won't be long until they are doing things to you... because they can. that's a sort of quid pro quo long term consequence of your actions kind of a thing..
and it's not to much to ask for an electrition to come and provide a free quote so i can look into sources of funding.
there no excuse for that. the refusal to do that. no excuse.
appraently 'they don't have to'.
but what's the problem is that they don't *want to*. they don't want to provide clean green healthy homes for their people.
that's the problem.
they won't unless they are forced. it's all about force and compliance and getting away with forcing because you can and forcing compliance.
and there are certain things that slaves won't do.

it's not that i didn't have anything to lose financial-wise (though apparently some parents expressed concern about potentially having to sell their house to pay for it)...
but that was after they signed the contract...
you sort of go: there are 3 groups of people who apply to early decision. firstly, the people who have enough money to pay the whole thing and they are prepared to do that. they chose to do that instead of waiting... instead of applying for merit scholarships and the like. likely they are academically weaker but want to go to college for... well... they write essays all about it.
secondly, the people who are too stupid to realise what they are signing up for. who have houses or savings or whatever... who go 'it's likely we'll get some funding from them to help' and... well... they can look into the situation, i suppose, and they can decide. but they make their financial aid offer and.... you are liable (you signed the contract) for the rest of it. that makes it a silly contract to sign for people with more limited means. who need to be thinking about what aid packages are on offer or thinking about how the school actually calculated aid... will they be required to sell their house? take out another mortgage? and so on... it seems silly to sign that without seeing what other quotes are / what other colleges have to say / whether one has options.
thirdly, the people who have nothing to lose / which is to say nothing to contribute, really. so these people aren't stupid -- they didn't stupidly sign a contract that could leave them destitute... well... maybe my mother did. would they have taken her house? do i care?
50 cents per week... and she wouldn't do it. there were other things... things that didn't cost her any money. letting me to go school camp when everybody else in the whole class went and when class activities for the next month were to be based on it. this was a punishment because i didn't tell her that i needed to take a packet of biscuits for supper until teh night before when i was packing. because the threw a f*ck*ng tantrum about it. about having to contribute a f*ck*ng packet of biscuits for school camp (she had the money). it was never about the money for my mother. it was always about everything else. conditions of misery and forced compliance.
and still...
people think they own me or have some claim on me that this is my lot in life in new zealand.
no matter how many laws they violate to do it... it's just an angry mob.
This is the end of the thread.
