So, I don't understand the story.
Joseph is favored by his Father (because he reminds him of his Fathers most recent wife) and his brothers are jealous.
Joseph has dreams and it is a bit unclear whether he intends to be insufferable or whether they don't understand him, or both.
So his brothers mob him and nearly kill him and decide to sell him into slavery instead.
Then in slavery it is discovered that he is quite good at dream interpretation (aka: future forecasting). He future forecasts a time of plenty followed by famine so they are able to store the plenty to ride the famine and great, great, life is great. He is promoted very muchly.
Brothers back home are living in a famine because they did not understand / heed his dreams.
They come to beg for help.
They do not recognise him.______
Then what happens?
The story gets murky.
I do not understand. Then he hides a cup in Benjaman's bag and accuses him of theft. He is going to lock him up and throw away the key.
The brothers don't turn on Benjaman. They plead for mercy.
Then he reveals himself as their brother. Gives mercy. All is forgiven.
WTF.

Is the idea that it's not fair that he was the last born and so favored by his father and it's also not fair that he is good at dream interpretation rather than him.
And it is also not fair that they tried to mob him to death and sold him into slavery and then he was set up and imprisoned.
And then it is luck that he does well.
And it is unluck that they do poorly.
So when they come to be beg for mercy...
It is fitting that he grants it.
Balance.
Is that the idea?
That seems fair.
I suppose.
They f*ck*ng tried to kill him and they sold him into slavery.
ffs.

And it's not fair that he got a technicolor dreamcoat.
Of course he didn't *ask* for a technicolor dreamcoat.
But I guess he got one. So he has to give mercy. Because that's what that means. That's fair.
Sigh.
This is the end of the thread.
