So Trump is the logical extension of the Anglosphere? What's that thing from the definition of the Spectacle......a litany of self congratulation? I had a copy of the Revolution of Everyday Life, but it was a bit hard.
I don't know what to think. Doesn't look good.

Fire and Ice
BY ROBERT FROSTSome say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what Ive tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

We're(the US) going down hard, I feel. Something of an irony, considering the roles of capitalism and warfare in global warming. We made a nice spot for the hydrocarbon kings. Among a few other havens and enablers.
Dark days here.

It referred to XR and the necessity of jailing anyone protesting environmental issues (such as Adani).

Not particularly encouraging, but spot on.

A family member has me convinced that Teddy Roosevelt was perhaps the best president weve had. Before the wars.
I dont see us getting out of the spot Bacevich identifies. Justice deferred.

I cant imagine Sanders or Warren could really win because business will through all their weight against it.
Biden is a xerox of a xerox. Trump and Biden seem unacceptable. But the trees and forests.... theyd last a little longer under Biden.
How to survive another trump presidency? Even Scotty said hed help!
Honestly, I wish I could leave. At least for awhile.

Remember this? No one could do this now after 2007. That dystopian moment has passed.
'Later Poindexter, convicted of lying to congress in the 1980s, opened up a futures market for terrorist attacks, where traders would be financially rewarded by the Pentagon for accurately predicting suicide bombings.'

That was in more optimistic times, for those with faith in the market.
The erosion empathy and cultivation of indifference proceeds.......from today's Guardian
"An Afghan doctor who was transferred to Australia from Manus Island for medical care has died in Brisbane.
Sayed Mirwais Rohani had been in Australia for around two years, after more than four years on Manus Island.
The 32-year-old Hazara man is believed to have taken his own life, and is the 13th death of a person sent to Manus Island or Nauru by Australia under its offshore immigration system.
Rohanis father is a refugee living in the UK with his wife, and he travelled to Manus Island in 2016 seeking his sons release to join him in the UK. The spokesman for the Refugee Action Coalition, Ian Rintoul, said that request was denied because Rohani was not a minor."

Sometimes I come across things that make me laugh.....
Capitalism is in this sense a meth-addled drone pilot sitting in an air conditioned trailer in bumblefuck Virginia with a pile of pornographic magazines in one hand and the button that slaughters a wedding party in Afghanistan in the other. The choices are, 1) dont push the button, 2) push the button and slaughter the entire wedding party, 3) push the button, but only target the men, 4) OD on meth with plans to meet the wedding party in the afterlife. If anything, this metaphor is too generous.

I must watch. Some things I read in the madrugada make me laugh like that and this.......
You think this impeachment is a LYNCHING? tweeted the Illinois representative Bobby Rush. What the hell is wrong with you? Do you know how many people who look like me have been lynched, since the inception of this country, by people who look like you. Delete this tweet.
He didn't even say what the heck.
It's Billy Holiday with Bitter Fruit, no? I read about how her act got to be performed. The whole thing sounded reverential.

I'd like to mention the systematic encouragement of indifference ever since Reagan at least.
Nasty women! One day AOC will be president if she is not shot first.

John Curtin in WWII used to end his speeches with 'God bless you all', which was nice, inclusive and sincere, different from how it would sound today, sanctimonious and divisive.

As good an occasion as any. I don't know if it's a good version. I see it is Strange Fruit.

When she sang it everything in the club was stopped, the lights were out except for the spotlight, and the show stopped after that.

Similarly for your amusement (short clip from c span) a personal attorney for trump argues the case for presidential immunity. It's under three minutes.

Just chilling. I can only imagine the performance. Her life was filled with suffering. What an amazing voice and performer.

He admires her. And there is much to admire. I wonder if I'll live to see her or another woman become president. He'll never beat her on twitter :D
