Taxes are for losers. The news might have broken in the Guardian. I haven't checked yet, but the NYT did an exposé on Trump finances.

I thought Chris Hedges' style would stand out.
From today's Counterpunch......
What constitutes the bulwark of our own liberty and independence? It is not our frowning battlements, our bristling sea coasts, the guns of our war steamers, or the strength of our gallant and disciplined army . . . Our defense is in the preservation of the spirit which prizes liberty as the heritage of all men, in all lands, every where. Destroy this spirit, and you have planted the seeds of despotism around your own doors.
President Abraham Lincoln, September 11, 1858
Civilisational failure writ large.

I thought kaka was maaori for sh*t but apparently it is lots of countries word for sh*t but mostly it means parrot in maaori. pretty sure we called things 'kaka' when we thought they were sh*t when i was growing up in the waikato, but what would i know.
anyway...
i was thinking kakastocracy.

Certainly it was used in German speaking Europe.
I wouldn't look for too much difference between kakistocracy and kakastocracy.

That was what I thought when I read what you said.

I started watching Billy T videos. I forgot he was a really wonderful comedian, indeed.
I didn't know his tribe took his body. There have been other cases like that, in NZ. Maaori who don't want their tribe to have their body when they die. Maaori who live apart from the tribe and don't want that to happen. Then their tribe take the body. Digging it up, if they have to.
The courts...
What are you going to do? Imprison the whole tribe over it?
?
Sigh.

My disappointment was Jared and Jr weren't cuffed for something or other. There is corruption. That is what this is all about. The Southern District of New York has taken that up, to what end remains to be seen. If the corruption of that family and friends is not exposed, then I will truly feel lost. The entire political/financial mechanism. The clockworks. That should be exposed. But it won't be. So I'll make due with pieces.

It was, wasnt it? He was awarded the Nobel. Just because it happened. And in hope.

i went to this talk about global warming and public health. i thought it sounded like a bit of a gimmick. it is the sort of thing that would get a lot of government money in this part because thats the kind of thing they like to give money to -- but it would likely be a terrible talk given by an idiot because they are fairly particular about that, too...
but it was from someone overseas and it was actually quite good.
he said some stuff about i forget where... sweat shops. with the increase in temperature around the climate temperatures are getting less and less safe for people who are working in sweat shops with poor ventillation and often with machinery that runs hot, too.
so they were trying to give the people who were in charge of the building a hand in helping making conditions safer for workers.
and also... part of it has to do with trying to help developing nations develop their labour laws so that we can try and offer fairer trades for people / companies or whatever to actually do ensure better working conditions for their workers (rather than just collecting the 'in the name of' monies for themselves).
and there was this thing about painting the roofs a light colour. white. rather than something dark.
and there was resistence to that.
resistence...
turns out some people really seem to like... really seem to enjoy making other people suffer.
i wonder quite a lot how much many of the 'natural disaster' things are actually people caused. by bombs and the like. modern warfare. we just put it down to 'natural disaster' so as not to induce mass panic. and so insurance companies deal with the rebuild.
i have wondered that for a while.
wondered, too, whether the radiation you get in the southern hemisphere is more to do with nuclear fallout than hole in the ozone layer.
i don't mean to deny climate change. i just mean that that it might be something that is intentionally being induced. inflicted on (other primarily) populations.
i don't know.

Watching democrats fawn over the FBI and CIA has been interesting. I completely and utterly understand the desire for a savior, and I'm among those traumatized, but the FBI? Didn't they try to influence MLK to suicide? Bizarre.

The Democratic Party or its mouthpieces have backed themselves into a corner with Trump. It may be a failure of courage?

The news headline was that Trump was in England and everything was on the table but then that National Health was not on the table.
There were protestors. They looked happy enough, though. I wonder who the protestors are. Unemployed people? They didn't like Trump. The signs had words to the effect that they didn't like Trump. But they didn't look passionate about anything in particular.
Trump said something about how the protestors were fake news.
Whatever European news sorce said Trump said the news about the protestors was fake.
It reminded me of the liar paradox.
I thought it was funny.
'Go away, Trump. Bad people live here. Do not do business with them'.
I would hold a sign like that.

You are all as bad as each other.
That's the point of politics, I think.
To keep the awful people occupied with each other.(so other people can get on with actual work / actually work at making things actually better for a greater proportion of us)
One can only believe...
Sigh.

That's why I think the game theory version of Pascal's Wager is more relevant than an analysis of how win-win co-operation is better than win-lose or lose-win or lose-lose (which is surely worst of all and where we end up when we try and do 'you lose therefore i win' antics...

Oh, haha, I was talking about the failure of the democratic party overall :) With Trump it's difficult because the false narratives (different from fake news) and the lack of public will regarding impeachment. That he was elected at all tells you our country has a screw loose.
Yes, I think a failure of courage is implicated. For some, our greatest fear is his re election. So trauma?

Have you seen the trump baby balloon? It's often found afloat in London.
