i had a friend who thought there was some serious philosophy in rand. i mean, she's a bit of a popularist figure, but he thought there was more to her than that. i haven't read her stuff, so i don't know.
i feel bad what i was saying somewhere about cohh... i said something about him remembering the people who supported him... anyway... he gave a couple of his mod team a raise and he's been going on about all the work the mods do and the game developers do and so on. and yeah, those are the behind the scenes people that often don't get acknowledged / credited for all the essential work they do. he is a decent guy. fun to watch if you are into games because he likes to play them and he does a good job at keeping the conversation mostly positive and supportive and friendly. yeah.
it will be christmas, soon. apparently i will find out whether i'm doing med or not by the 20th. that is good. in the past i think it was always the evening of the 24th which seemed a little off to me. sort of... i don't know... gestured towards peoples parents having conversations with people on christmas day or... yeah... and just a horrible thing all over if christmas is a hard time of year for you already. this way people have the... room... to steel themselves before (potentially) telling all their relations that they *still didn't get into med, this year* which starts to... grind down the people around you, as well...

Sometime before 1968 I was given he Fountainhead or Atlas Shrugged. The one whose first words are (are they?) 'Howard Roarke laughed. Standing naked on the edge of a cliff, his long blond hair blowing in the breeze........' Well, geez, that's 50 years ago now, I can be forgiven some confabulation. The right wing imagination is not so very capacious. I might even be right.Christmas. We have this buildup and it doesn't end til wretched Australia Day. At least everyone has given up on cooking. I buy spanner crabs, make mango salsa and buy good booze.

Half my brain is still there........
Howard Roark laughed.
He stood naked at the edge of a cliff. The lake lay far below him. A frozen explosion of granite burst in flight to the sky over motionless water. The water seemed immovable, the stone-flowing. The stone had the stillness of one brief moment in battle when thrust meets thrust and the currents are held in a pause more dynamic than motion. The stone glowed, wet with sunrays.
Calls out for Freud.

Would he have had blond flowing locks like the blond beast?
Maybe not.

It can depend on the heat. ATM it looks OK. Spanner crab with a mango salsa? The spanner crab takes an hour or two to take apart. The shells can be sharp.

I don't know what spanner crab is.
I had a fijian indian flatmate, once, who made this amazing crab curry, though. Freaked me out one day to come home and there were crabs crawling about in the sink.
