First off min wage is rediculously low. You would have to work 2 jobs just to get up to and slightly above the US poverty line. 7.25?? Should be 15!!
Why are the people doing all the work getting nothing more than SLAVE wages?! The people at the top make something like 1million times what the people at the bottom are. They can't suvive. Why don't the people at the top respect our work? and pay a fair wage? Without us they would be BROKE..
I went to college worked hard every day, worked almost non stop for years and they only give me $12/h max. Worked over time, and yet I still can't afford to move out of my parents house.

I feel bad for people making minimum wage who work in a job where they don't earn tips. I hear that one can do well (perhaps even very well) from tips.
I don't know much more about the culture than that.
I didn't like the whole tipping thing to start with... But when I returned to Australia I certainly noticed (was actually fairly immediately appalled by) the awful service. And then seeing how places were starting to try and request tips -- but not seeming to understand that tips are supposed to be *earned* by being *good* at what you do.

I deliver pizza for tips. I make about 10/h after you pay for gas and the use of your own car. I agree its better than min wage. But you know I have medical expenses and living expenses and I'm living with parents. It does not go far enough. If I had to pay rent I would be screwed.
I just think 7.25 is a joke.

yeah, the prospects for earning great tips from pizza delivery is perhaps not great. you can't speed up the cooking process and there perhaps isn't a way to distinguish yourself as providing above average customer service.
i hear bar tending can be quite lucrative. or waitressing... depending on the place. parking / minding peoples cars?
i don't know...

oh... if it helps any, fast food delivery here pays a little over $13 - which is minimum wage. you still need to use your own car, pay your own car insurance, and cover your own fuel. that is new zealand dollars... so once you do currency conversion... it is a pretty crappy deal, for sure.
