Fascinating how interested the offenders are in our current political situation. They have lost their right to vote, but still very passionate about their choices of parties.
Had a roomful of liberals and one conservative. Two liberals had been in the armed forces, one in Desert Storm and another in Vietnam. Both were extremely opposed to war in any form or fashion.
I realized today that I would miss teaching them and would miss our conversations about almost every aspect of the "free world".
I always throw in something about our economical situation and today it was the price of food. Blew them away that milk is $5.00 a gallon and eggs are $3.00 a dozen. Throwing that out there really got the class buzzing. We talked about jobs when they get out, minimum wage and supporting themselves and a family.
Good day, today.

>I always imagine that trying to reenter society after a lengthy stay in a correctional facility would be like coming out of a time capsule; and how very difficult it must be for individuals to adjust to the new reality of how much it costs to live. I would think a person would need a lot of help (practical counseling) to make a success of adjustment to society.
