From today's paper, a letter to the editor.....
"Some of the remedies for global warming may not be as benign as they appear at first sight.
Take wind farms.
A plethora of wind farms will inevitably lead to a slowing down of the Earth's rotation.
This will increase the length of the day and cause more extreme daytime and night-time temperatures, something they are touted to avoid."

That's almost as good as the letter to the editor last spring. Our state only just adopted Daylight Savings Time and the writer denounced it as a plot to mess with the climate by lengthening the day, thereby lending credence to the false threat of global warming and bolstering the hand of those who would subjugate us by making us drive hybrid cars.
(Not the exact text, of course; but the writer did sincerely believe that somehow resetting clocks affected the amount of sunlight.)
Also reminds me of this: http://xkcd.com/162/

"A simple solution to stop windfarms from either slowing down or speeding up the Earth's rotation is to have 50% of them facing east and 50% of them facing west. While one speeds it up the other will slow it down, negating any effect on the speed of rotation."
From today's paper.

Here's the next salvo:
"Unfortunately Richard Bolt (Letters, October 24) has forgotten to take into consideration one other important fact. We in the southern hemisphere must urgently start to build and operate wind farms to counter the top-heavy effect of the wind farms now operating in the northern hemisphere, otherwise we face the reality of the earth toppling over."
This is the end of the thread.
