What does it say about the system that this guy is considered a hopeless longshot?

Something we don't see that often?
Convert the war machine?
Oh my goodness. What it says about our system (IMO) is that capitalism is good for some things, but really has made sensible debate just about impossible, or to put it differently (as Andrei Makine did) mass media has turned us into zombies.
We had some good people here like Peter Andren and Ted Mack. The sort of people who rejected pay rises and knew what principle was.
I dunno about the US, but Australia needs independents.
We are steadily getting more of them, because of the state of the major parties.

It would be interesting to make a list of the words that turn us into zombies. Top of the list here would be 'unaustralian'.
George Bush saying of Howard 'He has good values' was a reasonable attempt.

I hope you don't mind me developing the subject.....
In the 30s or thereabouts a sociologist was drafted to create a test to determine the values of immigrants and see if those values were in accord with AVs.
One question was...
If a friend comes to visit you in the day in Australia, it is appropriate to offer
A. Beer
B. Wine
C. Tea
D. WaterAll were in accord with AVs except B.

Sounds about like what we have in the US... especially in the run-up to war when "Freedom Fries" came along. Wine is far too French, too not "with us" (and by presidential decree, therefore "against us").
Of course, time has proven the French exactly how unwise their lack of enthusiasm for an invasion of Iraq truly was...

So it seems.
The French Foreign Minister is in today's paper saying we should prepare for war with Iran.
Then there's the Israeli attack on Syria.
Interesting part of the world.
Cheney may get his chance?
This is the end of the thread.
