Britain stops using War onTerror terminology

They seem to think the phrase both elevates the status of group of criminals who have no country or really any cohesive structure while at the same time offending Moslems who see it elevated to a clash of civilizations rather than defending against criminal activity


I think that's nice. War seems to call up the idea of nation vs nation and tanks rollin etc etc etc


I wonder if they sent a dispatch to the leader of our nation explaining the metaphoricallity of the word "war".

Like the war on drugs has been going on for 40 years and the war on crime and the war on poverty but we haven't been invading other countries. Although in the interest of being fair and balanced we also haven't won any of those wars either.
