Bush/Cheney '08

Posted by lil' jimi on April 4, 2007, at 2:21:12

i support Jeb (or Laura) for the Republican nomination for president.
AND
"Dead Eye" Dick Cheney for Vice President.
The limitations on terms served only applies to the president.
"So why change horses in the middle of a stream?", they could say.
or Lynne Cheney
or Mary.

whichever,
just as long as America can have that "Bush/Cheney" brand for the Republican nomination for 2008.

"EIGHT MORE YEARS!"

That's the spirit.

Like the man himself said, he would do it all exactly the same again.

>>> The limitations on terms served only applies to the president.

So you could serve as VP indefinitely?

Even after being President for 8 years?

I've always wondered about this.

i am no authority, but i believe that is true.

>
> So you could serve as VP indefinitely?

although i could not find any resource to state so explicitly, i could find none that denied this.

>
> Even after being President for 8 years?

no, i do not think so.
the Twelfth Amendment makes the requirements for being vice-president the same as for being president and any two-term president would not be qualified to be president.

>
> I've always wondered about this.

until "dead-eye" transmorgrified it into a "Fourth Branch" of government, the vice-presidency was always looked down upon as either a guarantee of obscurity or a stepping stone to the oval office.
the not unreasonable expectation would be that politicians' natural ambition would delimit vice-presidents to two terms.

odd dream I had last night... for some reason Putin and Bush both resigned and i happened across Cheney. And I sort of offhandedly remarked, "Hey - you're president now, aren't you?"

Strangely, I was mostly angry at Bush because I was afraid his resignation would rehabilitate him in the eyes of his critics...

Later in the dream I was placed in a badly-run psych hospital in a former Soviet republic while they searched my baggage before i boarded a flight for home.

> odd dream I had last night...

all dreams are odd, if only because it's odd we dream them.
it's odd when i remember mine at all.
the oddest dream would be to dream a dream in which everything is normal and realistic.
none of which really has anything to do with what you're saying.

> for some reason Putin and Bush both resigned and i happened across Cheney. And I sort of offhandedly remarked, "Hey - you're president now, aren't you?"

yes, that'd be odd.
in a terrifying sort of way.

> Strangely, I was mostly angry at Bush because I was afraid his resignation would rehabilitate him in the eyes of his critics...
>

yes, that surreal feeling of having reasonable reactions but driven by bizarre motivations where the sense of proportion is just twisted a little ... although dreading sympathy for shrub might not be all that unreasonable.

> Later in the dream I was placed in a badly-run psych hospital in a former Soviet republic while they searched my baggage before i boarded a flight for home.

glad you got home.

now, welcome to my favorite nightmare:

"EIGHT MORE YEARS!"

I applaude the Democrats who have never made an issue of Laura's background.

The dream conversation I want.

Dick> "So Laura's in control of Air Force 1"

George> "do you think that's a good idea"

Dick> "stop worrying and lets go hunting"

"and it's Easter time too."

we may expect that every precaution is being taken ...
ever since that
suicide-assassin pretzel incident,
we may recall.

"When you're lost in the rain in Juarez
And it's Eastertime too
And your gravity fails
And negativity don't pull you through
Don't put on any airs
When you're down on Rue Morgue Avenue
They got some hungry women there
And they really make a mess outa you"

i think we may reasonably presume with an abundance of caution that
those are not real chain saws and those are not authentic trees.

must be some kind of look-a-like saw and maybe some sort of Nerf-like tree substitutes?

well, maybe not so much.
there is now good reason to believe that this did not happen as reported.
video of these events, shown on msNBC's Countdown, defies the above discription.
completely.
unfortuantely, what did happen wasn't funny.

except
Why would the ford ceo try to cast the president in a bad light?
So he, CEO, can look like the hero?
or
is someone else trying to defame Mulally?

There was a poll here done by News Ltd.

The result was that more Australians felt that China was a force for world peace than the US.

The figure for the US was in the low 30s.

Australia has had such a troubled relationship to Asia that this was a remarkable result, attracting comment from Rupert himself.
