I think that the news piece was very interesting to read, but the comments at the end of it were the most telling.
I think it is a leap to hold all americans responsible for the actions of the president, especially since over %50 of the people that voted, did so for someone else - twice!
One thing I think the vast majority of people in America will agree on is that we want the war in Iraq over. But there is signicant disagreement here over HOW to make that happen.
Do we just LEAVE?
Do we just STAY THE COURSE?
Do we ESCALALTE our presence there?These are tough questions. For those that voted for Bush in the 2004 election, I think they trusted him to make the right decision.
Even here in the south (a bastion of the republican constiuency) are bailing on Bush according the polls.
Also, if you look at the last legislative election, I think you will see a significant shift away from the current policy, representing a cry for a change.
So I really think America is rising against the status quo.
In my opinion, people worldwide are pretty much the same. We want a better life for ourselves and our families, we want to be left alone to live that life and that, selfish as it may seem, is the primary concern. Politics for most is a secondary concern - almost a luxury.
Well, that is until it reaches a point where it can no longer take that secondary place. I think America is at that point right now.

Maddie, I spoke last night at a MoveOn.org rally in Austin, Texas and was overwhelmed by the turnout. And there were more young people that I could have ever expected to show up on a Monday night and March across a bridge!!!!

i remember that one. perhaps that changes my mind a bit. still, enough with the prudes in the white house :) anyone who can take a good spanking is good in my book!
but, if......... and then she starts that up again, i see bad things. there was quite a bit of backlash. mister gore needs a leash on that pup. it would be quite a change with a mrs as president, woudln't it? let a woman do the butt smacking for once!!!! and i'm quite sure mr clinton wouldn't ahve a problem getting spanked in public.

i know danzig (formerly from the misfits) (blasted devil music, thanks mr kk) wrote a song specifically devoted to tipper and her stand called mother which was played regularly on the radio. i think that's the most popular danzig song.
honestly, when duckie gets older, i'm going to know what he's listening to, what he's watching. he won't be listening to the same things i do (god forbid the same things his father does. of course that's a joke. as i've realized what i refer to as devil music has no or very little profanity. so, one of the musicians she actually referred to wasn't corrupting youth. glenn danzig is straight (no drugs, ect.).
i just don't like the idea of politicians trying to raise our children (though it seems someone needs to, i'm still upset at all the young children at r rated movies !!!!! GRRRRR!!!). not raising, but setting guidelines for us, i guess. there are still some responsible people out here who can raise children and do it well thank you very much.
and i have a sister who lets her daughter (who she doesn't have custody of, thank god) do ANYTHING she wants, not jsut lets her though, encourages her. makes me sick. wait, where's the politics in this? if i choke my sister and go to jail, would that make it a political discussion?
