That's funny. I heard it didn't make it to New Orleans in time. It was on a lot in Hope, Arkansas waiting for the paperwork to come through.
The lot owner says that he's happy to continue to receiving the $10,000 a month to have it parked there, but he'd rather see it go to where people are standing in the street with boxes of beads and plastic cups but nowhere to throw them from.
But honestly...

And I heard tell of a float dressed like a giant duct taped fridge art refrigerator. But that might have just been a wild rumor. I'd hate to think of the throws. ;)

Hmmm... I suppose I should add that any references to Yankees or Lincoln's party are purely academic ones from an historical basis and do not reflect my, or I'm sure the writer's of the article's viewpoint. And that the part I was referring to is farther down in the article, about this year's floats.

Thanks for the link. That was interesting. I wish I were back down south. New York is fine---everybody has been real nice--but it's going to take some time getting use to being surrounded by Yankees and snow.Click your heels together and repeat, "There's no place like home..."

It's funny. I always thought I disliked this place until now. Made jokes about the smell in summer. And of course there was the crime and the educational system and the potholes and the traffic and the politicians.
But I dunno. In the end I think I've absorbed the place. The slow pace, the openness to diversity. The sweet olive trees. The po'boys. The muffalettas. The beignets. Hmmmm... a trend is emerging.
How's the food in New York City?

The food's not too bad (mainly cause I cook our own meals) but it's not down home southern cooking. Tonight it's curry goat, coconut rice, and corn.
