A ten

Posted by littleone on October 17, 2006, at 21:24:05

I am going to try a ten. This is ten reasons I'm glad I'm alive. Ten things I like about my life. For a long time I had been flat out coming up with one. So it feels like such a big step forward to even be able to attempt this. Still not sure I'll make it to ten.

1. I love birds. I love birding. They help me on such a deep level. I'm glad I'm a morning person so I can enjoy them more.

2. Hiking has been my saving grace. It's a wonderful addition to my life. It does come with some problems, but I think overall it has been very helpful for me.

3. I really enjoy photography. It helps all or most of my parts. The adult is keen to improve my composition and use of lighting and colour. My younger parts are keen to take lots of photos of tiny facinating things to show my T. I have a hopeless memory, so my photography has helped me hold on to some history/memories.

4. My T is wonderful. I'm so glad I found him. I'm so glad I stayed with him. He has helped me grow so much. I think I need to do a separate ten re my T.

5. My kitty loves me and I love her. She is so sweet.

6. Cottage gardens are so beautiful. I'm glad I have the chance to see more of them and the chance to improve mine. I would like to find the drive to fulfill my garden dreams.

7. I love the fact that I can create beautiful stitcheries (embroidery and cross stitch). I wish I could find my passion for it again. It would be nice to join a stitching group and learn more.

8. really struggling now.

Okay 8. I have a real life safe place I can visit whenever I like and can stay there sometimes ($ and time permitting). I love having it in my life. It soothes me so much. I feel so lucky to have a real life safe place. Don't think I've ever had one before. It is such a special thing to have.

9. The fact that I am still around demonstrates how much courage and determination and persistence and endurance I have. I think these are wonderful qualities to have and I'm glad they are in me.

10. I'm glad that I've had the chance to start to see what I'm really like. That (maybe) I am a good person worthy of good things. That underneath everything I am strong and smart and am probably someone that I could like. A lot. I think I really respect me and could learn to be more compassionate. I'm glad I've gotten the chance to start to like me. And to believe that maybe one day I really will feel comfortable in the world. And that the world will be glad to have me, but that won't really be a big deal to me, because *I* will be glad to have me.

Okay, I feel like crying now. That last one was a doozy for me.

I'm glad I made my ten. And I would probably even have another couple to add it I really put my mind to it. I need to keep this somewhere safe. Add it to my comfort book. It deserves a home there.

littleone,
that is one of the most amazing posts I have read in a long time.

Any one of these items is amazing- and has made your life so much richer.

The further down the list I read, the more we get to your core.

You are very brave to write those kind things about yourself.

I know it's hard to say nice things about yourself, but part of you believes it. I hope that part of you grows stronger and more confident every day.

Do you share things like this with your T? I think that could really make a T's day

bravo

My list is way overdue. I was thinking it's pretty superficial, but really, positive thoughts can be of varying degrees, and they all help!, so here I go:

1 Feeling like posting more even if the words haven't quite caught up to me yet
2 Having the windows open to let cooler air in
3 Cooking. I love to do it.
4 Yoga. Ditto.
5 Babble buddies, and Beyond Babble buddies
6 Nice smelling candles
7 Pink polished toes
8 The "shuffle" option on the iPod
9 The beach, the water, the sky at sunset
10 Being stable on medication (I hope this one isn't a jinx!)

CS

Now, you other babblers out there - make your list of 10 and put it here!! More is better, just like chocolate.

One more list, Phillipa. Name 10 things that make you *happy* - cleaning bathrooms don't count, OK? Instead of 10 things that you accomplished. Which is great in itself, but tell us what you are happy about. Gimme 10:

OK, that's 2 things that make you happy today. What else? Anything you've seen or people you've talked to who have made you happy or at least left a good impression?

I'll squeeze these next 8 out of you, Phillipa. It's a good exercise and one that brings perspective on our lives. You can do it!

Sorry not today as we stayed in the house waiting for the call to pick up Chloe. Oh she did get an A+ for her grooming and the comment she's so cute and so sweet. She's an extension of me. Plus she ate her dinner for me. No small feat as I have her spoiled rotten. Love Phillipa Maybe tomorrow?

Phillipa, this is so interesting!

I'm so glad Clearskies is forcing you to talk about what makes you FEEL good- I'm really getting to know you better. Keep going, even if it's hard!

so- having pretty fingernails makes you feel good? happy? satisfied? There are a lot of different words you can use to talk about how you feel, but the important thing is to talk about them :)

I do talk but action speaks louder than words to me. I ride the bike, I drive when I don't want to, I get up when I don't want to etc. I'm hoping this leads again one day to being happy. And some things I can't say on here as to why I'm not happy. But I bet you could guess l. getting old, 2. marriage. 3 not nursing, 4 no control over anything anymore cause I'm not considered an equal cause I'm spending my Disability on my medical care it's all gone and not on household bills. Need I say more? I'm not in a good mood. Sorry li don't mean to take it out on you. I hate saying I'm sorry I want and love to make other people happy. I don't know how to be happy . Been too long. Love Phillipa

Phillipa, do you ever get that feeling when you're going downhill on the bike and it feels kind of fast, but you feel safe, and you're zooming?

That's a time when it might feel safe to feel "happy"

just a thought.

I feel happy at little moments throughout the day. Maybe the whole day is kind of crappy, but there still might be a few moments of cheer. (like when you get to cuddle and play with your pets?)

Don't be afraid to be happy for just a moment or so... you won't be hurting anyone!

next time it happens, let us know, okay?

envying your strong legs,
-Li

Li you have a way of putting things in perspective. I think I looking for too big things as I really am happy riding well not that fast down the hills on my bike and when I shower and get in bed to read with the pups I feel so cuddly and safe that feels good. Love Phillipa

It's okay to dream big dreams, but it's also important to recognize the little things that make a difference to our moods. I'm so happy that you have nice moments like you describe above. When you go about your day today, try to find something that makes you feel good about yourself, happy, satisfied, or makes you laugh- I think you still have a few spots on your list of ten to fill in!

1. I was able to phone T and ASK for something.(I asked her to leave a message on my voicemail bout how emtions come and go etc. and she DID!)(BTW-I left it on HER voicemail-the asking thing-I kinda squarked it out-its a wonder she understood the message!)
2. I had anxiety attack, and rode it out ok (with help of T's message ;-)
3. I haven't been doing any dangerous escapism type behaviors for quite awhile
4. I have learned to pretty much trust my T. To accept that maybe she actually DOES care about me?!
5. my SI has been minimal
6. I been pretty good w/my kids
7. I been pretty good w/my inside kids
8. I am changing and growing for the better
9. I paid the visa bills
10 I keep going, even when its really hard.(up to a point anyways)
