Hello,
From the age of about 10 until I was 13 I suffered from a phobia of eating. I was so scared to eat because I thought that I'd vomit and starve to death. After a while I could easily vomit just at the smell of food. I lost a lot of weight and was afraid that I'd die. I desperately wanted to put on weight and be able to eat like everyone else. Fortunately, I eventually recovered from this phobia.
Has anyone ever experienced anything similar?
Ed.

The first time I heard of it was about 10 years ago when I met a woman who suffered from this same phobia. I looked into it for her and found that it's not all that uncommon, especially in anxious children. It's called emetophobia. If you are interested you'll find quite a large number of web sites on the topic if you Google it. Since I met that woman, I keep running into people online and IRL with this same phobia. I know there are at least a couple here with it who have just not seen your post yet.

Ed -I just re-read your post and realized that I translated it to mean a fear of vomiting, not a fear of food. Maybe I assumed too much??
I do that a lot, especially before noon.

Hi!
Thank you for your reply. It was a fear of food, everything related to food AND vomiting.
