Bulimic for 26 years. I didn't start purgeing until after a number of binges, followed by days of fasting. If added in those years would make make me bulimic for 34 years.
I am keeping better and better control of binges.I avoid my trigger foods (those that taste so good and can be gotten rid of easily.)
I still get out of control, I won't give you details, it isn't pretty.
Neither are the crowns and caps on my teeth from where stomach acid ate through the enamel. My front teeth are real, so I still have a decent smile.
I think it's interesting that when I go into a major depression I stop eatting. Last time I lost 10 pounds which I am strugglig with to keep off. I weigh myself twice a day and so far gained back one pound, but I know it'll be gone in a day or two if I watch what I eat. Alcohol is my downfall, I love wine and drink way too much of it. Shouldn't be drinking on meds anyway, so I am going to have to force myself to limit it. I want that pound dropped quick.

My love for my wine sedative is also my downfall. Even though my weight gain has been med induced, I am sure it would not have been so severe if I had just curtailed or stopped my drinking. Yeah right! Try asking me to stop breathing!
During my breakdown a few years ago, I lost a lot of weight, even with all the different meds. I also hardly ate.
This relapse has felt a different. It has been a mammoth task to try and control my appetite and desire to binge.
Can you tell me more about your trigger foods and what they are? Why are they easier to get rid of?

Hi Sabrina,
My trigger foods are easy to get rid of by purging, which is a less disgusting way of saying make myself throw up.
They are specific foods, including a flavor of ice cream that I easily will eat a gallon of. I have binged on other flavors, too, but this one is what I used to eat for comfort. The same thing with the other stuff.
If I avoid them, I don't trigger as many bad memories which is why I call them trigger foods.
