Hi everyone; So, here's the situation: I've had severe recurrent depression for the last 13 years (I'm currently 26), developed anorexia for ~8 years, then self-harm (cutting)off and on since then, as coping mechanisms. Currently experienced another bout of severe depression, and am still fiddling with my anti-depressants. WELL, I had been very sick for about 2 weeks, thought it was the flu, but went to the Dr. and when routine blood work came back abnormal, I went to a bunch of specialists and finally found out I now have AML (acute myelogenous leukemia).
I'm looking for support and information in the form of published books either by survivors of or about individuals who have AML, specifically those with the megakaryoblastic subtype without Down's syndrome or specific chromosomal translocations/abnormalities. I've gone to a lot of specific AML support sites, but only found brief survivor stories and short journals, and I'm looking for something more in depth (sort of like 'The Ryan White Story'; he dealt with acquiring AIDS through a blood transfusion). I'd like to have more of an idea of the complete experience people have had during their disease treatment (side effects, how it effects them emotionally, relapse etc).
It would be great to find a story that includes some of the other health issues I dealt with as well, but I'm looking for anything right now, so any assistance would be great. I've already tried google-ing and searching for books on Amazon, and Borders etc. websites and found nothing like what I'm searching for.
~Thanks

Hi Lindy,
I am so sorry to hear about your illness. I unfortunately don't have an answer to your question. I hope you keep searching though!
Good luck,
