I've heard that magnesium can prolong the effect of amphetamines and taurine helps with the tolerance building up (is it true?). Any other supplements worth using besides vitamines (except Vit.C - I use it when Adderall wears off) and omegas which I use daily? Nicotinamide? Pantothenic Acid? Any other?
Thanks.

Hi Brad,
Sorry to disappoint you -- I'm not Lar, lol. :-)
I've only read minimal amounts of info on this topic, and I'll share what I know. First of all, I believe magnesium is an NMDA-antagonist. Apart from that, I'm not sure of any effects it could have on amphetamine usage... except that it's antacid effect could be responsible for the prolonging effect you're speaking of, which seems quite plausible. As for taurine helping with tolerance, it's possible... research seems to suggest that it inhibits the release of norepinephrine and acetylcholine, stimulates the release of GABA, and increases the production of serotonin and melatonin by stimulating the activity of N-acetyltransferase.
As for other supplements, niacinamide is certainly worth taking if you're experiencing anxiety -- otherwise, I see no reason to bother with it. Pantothenic acid is most likely to be helpful if you have sleep disturbances, fatigue, depression, or out-of-character personality changes (not attributable to a bipolar disorder). For what it's worth, PA didn't help me at all. DL-phenylalanine, L-tyrosine, NADH, sublingual B12, Oriental ginseng, American ginseng, and eleuthero root are other viable options (along with many others I've forgotten -- forgive me, I just woke up, lol).

I would definately get a multi formula with a broad spectrum of vitamins and minerals. You'll want good anti-oxidants, vitamin C, all the B vitamins, zinc, calcium, and magnesium for sure unless you are eating *much* healthier than is par these days. You may find supplementing with L-tyrosine and having periodic drug holidays also helpful.
This is the end of the thread.
