STOP COMPLAINING

Posted by tensor on February 15, 2011, at 12:59:02

This forum is by far the greatest and best on the internet when it comes to mutual and non-mutual help in psychiatric crisis, understanding and support. You are staring yourself blind on rules that are necessary to keep a forum like this going. It's too much focus on Dr. Bob's participation in his role as a supervisor/moderator. Cut him some slack, how much have we not benefit from this forum without ever paid a cent?
If you behave badly, it's natural you have to stay away from the board for awhile. Sure, almost everybody on this forum are mentally ill. Which makes it very different from a, e.g. a forum for pet lovers, right? It's almost unheard of that someone is posting erratic comments in a forum for Chevrolet owners compared to this forum where almost everybody are either psychotic, depressed or otherwise mentally labile.
I'm certain that Dr. Bob has made mistakes and I'm certain he knows it too, which renders him human. But to become so bitter that you can't no longer participate in this forum is like complaining about the radio channel when you have been picked up by the ambulance.
You, and you know who you are, have already proven your point and that you can make this forum a shadow of its past. But remember, there are *no* winners in this conflict.

I am not affiliated with Dr. Bob, I have no contact with him. Please feel free to babble mail me.

Regards,
Mattias

Mattias,
You wrote,[...the greatest and best...when it comes to..support...has made mistakes...have..proven your point...this conflict...]
I am unsure as to what you are wanting to mean here and if you could post answers to the following, then I could have he opportunity to respond accordingly.
A. Is it your opinion or fact in regards that you have stated that this forum is the greatest and the best? What are you wanting to mean by {greatest} and {best}? How have you determined, or by what criteria have you used, to make such an evaluation, that this forum is the greatest and best?
B. What is your conception of what {support} means?
C. What is your definition of a {mistake} here?
D. What point is proven?
E. What is the {conflict}?
F. any othher comments
Lou

...if that's the case

this place has been helpful to me for many years now - where has the time gone??

I like seeing these familiar names on this little site. Hi people of psychobabble!!! :-)

I don't feel like being critical. I'm not motivated to find a cause. I'm fighting to stay gentle with myself. If you look for the bad in people you will always find it.
(I am going to see how many cliche statements I can fit into this thread btw ;-)
The question I ask, usually to myself or to others, when they remain focused on criticism of others is "are you as critical of yourself as you are of other people?". Do you not realize the wisdom in the statement "take what you like and leave the rest"?

(Maybe it's poignant to me now because I am grieving so much, and trying to decide what to hold on to and what to let go of. What's "important" and what's not. I think to myself, "yeah, good luck with that".)

I know this isn't a "yay dr bob" kind of thread, but thanks dr bob, for the energy you've put into it (that's if you're reading at this point!)
However, Dr Bob, the person, does not equal this site.

eh, I can't presume to know other's intentions/motivations. Whatever they are, be well and take care.

You mean nobody gets exactly what they want? If we all "take what we like and leave the rest", then we all win something.

I'm trying to get back to reading regularly again. Thanks for the energy you put into this, too!

I'm not really sure what you mean, Bob. I like this forum, when I'm depressed and need help and support it's easy to post here, I don't need one hundred emoticons and other fancy server-side apps. I think most of the babblers prefer a simple interface, look at Google.. :-)

I really don't want argue because I contradict myself and my point. My opinion is that you got too personal with the babblers, and when you do something they/we don't like, it's personal, people get hurt. This admin forum e.g., is possibly a big mistake. I know, it's easy to criticize. This forum can't be compared to more 'normal forums' where the majority of the participants don't suffer from mental illnesses.

Forgive me, but I get the feeling that you have become more and more unconcerned about this forum, and you wrote that you're not here regularly now. I don't know how to run a forum like this, it's must be difficult. I have more to say about this but won't do it here, you can mail me if you wish.

Regards,
Mattias

Or limit time here
For any number of reasons
Assumptions as to why
Posters leave
