Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down.

But please don't take this personally, either, this doesn't mean I don't like you or think you're a bad person, and I'm sorry if this hurts you.

More information about posting policies and tips on alternative ways to express yourself, including a link to a nice post by Dinah on I-statements, are in the FAQ:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#enforce

Linkadge, I'm also sorry if you felt hurt.

Follow-ups regarding these issues should be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration. They, as well as replies to the above post, should of course themselves be civil.

Thanks,

Bob

I apologize if my responses were hurtful - they were not intended to be. However, don't I have the right to express my opinions and express that I feel someone elses comments are offensive and hurtful to me?

What Link said really hurt me and offended me as I felt he was insulting the original poster. Perhaps I should have cooled down before responding but I should have the right to express MY feelings.

I'm sorry Link if i hurt you, but some of your comments have hurt me but I feel now I'm the bad guy who has to apologize when I feel I also deserve an apology. However, I know that will not happen and I will move on.

Just my feelings on the matter. I will review the civil guidelines and do my best to be more civil in my future posts.

Hi Jerry, the civility rules can be a minefield to negotiate. Sometimes it takes me several attempts to craft (and I do mean craft) a post that retains my intent and still abides by Bob's Laws.

If you're ever not sure, I'd be happy to help in my limited way. PBC's freak me out when I get them; I don't know about you. You think you're helping or protecting someone else, and you end up getting scolded yourself.

It's not easy.

No, you don't have the right to express opinions and feelings that could lead others to feel accused or put down. If you express yourself using I-statements, however, they're less likely to feel accused or put down. For example, you're free to say:

> > I feel offended and hurt.

> I will review the civil guidelines and do my best to be more civil in my future posts.

Great, there's a link there to a nice post by Dinah on I-statements:

Yet, Linkage does??? Maybe you didn't catch what he was saying. If you did, I'm very disappointed that a warning was not also given to him. It looks no different to me and maybe even potentially more hurtful and harmful than what Christ_Empowered said in his original post on the Faith board.

> > I feel offended and hurt.

Can he say, "I feel offended and hurt by what you said Linkage"? Or, is it only appropriate to say, "I feel offended and hurt", and leave that Linkage said it out of the statement?

If you think I've missed something, please use the notification button instead of posting:

It would probably be clear, but my own example in the FAQ includes it, so I think I have to consider it OK. :-)
