Dr. Bob, I just found out the first pdoc I ever saw died suddenly at the young age of 41 in 2006. His obituary says he died suddenly so I suspect it was suicide.
I am reminded of how high the rate of suicide is for male pdocs.
Dr. Bob, please get help if you feel suicidal one day. I can't bare losing you. I change my mind about living to 120 because I don't want to see people I love die.
Dr. Bob, I think I would die if you died. Please don't die before I do. You should live to 110 and I'll settle for 90 OK?
I'm so sad, I'm crying. I don't want you to die.

Deneb, there are lots of ways to die suddenly. My best friend died suddenly, but it wasn't suicide.
And your first pdoc was not Dr. Bob. The fact that they are both pdocs doesn't imply that they are the same in any other way. The pdoc from hell and Dr. Just the Facts Ma'am were *nothing* alike.
Do you think this might be about something other than what it seems on the surface? Are you upset or anxious about something else? I have OCD and while sometimes my OCD fears are just that, sometimes they come when I have something stressful in my life, or when something scary is happening. I sort of figure my brain would rather be scared by something extremely unlikely than about something that might actually happen.
I'm not saying that's true of you. But you only saw this pdoc briefly? And there's no reason at all to think he's anything like Dr. Bob. Is there anything else you might feel worried or angry or upset about?

I don't know Dinah. I've been a bit down because of the trip ending and I'm kind of scared about the future in terms of having enough money since I quit.
You're right, it may not have been suicide. It's just I read suicide rates for pdocs are very high compared to the general population. It just worries me.

Sounds like you might be having post-holiday blues. After the excitement and fun of a holiday, the reality of life can seem a bit bleak. Little worries and fears become big. I bet you are feeling back to your old self soon.
