I wish there were less hostility, too. But hostility is part of life. But apologizing afterwards like you just did can at least temper its impact. Thanks,

LOL!

My apologies to Bob and Obsidian for laughing as I mean no disrespect, but that is so funny!!

Imagine tweeting that...people might think it's from a Discovery Channel forum.

Thanks for pointing that out! LOL! I have an off-beat sense of humor...

LOL!

And there are so many different kinds of snakes - depending on one's point of view.

Fill in the blanks from any point of view, and it's all still very funny...LOL!!

I can't stop laughing about it. LOL!!! I think the heat's finally gotten to me.

G*d, I'm in dire need of shredding down the slopes.

What brought this up?

To tell the truth, I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would say such a thing. You are, of course, unique. What is the definition of weird, anyway? Is it possible that some people are uncomfortable with your uniqueness? If they are, I am sure they represent a minority of people intolerant of people who are different.

Do you feel that you are different?

In what ways?

Sid,

I'm going to be completely honest with you.

I think you are a sweet genuine person. And I appreciate your openness and honesty in all of your posts.

You are not weird...and if my laughing over the above posts have made you question this...I'm sorry :)

If anyone's weird - Well, that would be me. And I'm proud of it! Just ask my hot new therapist...poor guy's
already got his hands full! We can't get through a session without me cracking-up on the floor over the
irony and the madness of it all!

I just happen to have a twisted sense of humor and find most everything funny. It's not what you wrote, but
how the threads happened to line up! LOL!

I've always thought you would be just the sort of person I would enjoy hanging out with! ((Sid))

I think you are different.
It's part of your charm.

But is everyone is normal until you get to know them?

Anyway, if we're all unique, can there be such a thing as normal?

Normal for me is a plot by media and academic interests.

I love the way your mind works, Sig. *You* are unique and charming.

I wouldn't mind joining you on the fun farm with animals, friends, smoking and such.

I would run around bare-footed in a flowery hippy dress with my flowing hair...
And you would entertain me with your sparking intelligence and wit...
And I would laugh just at the right moments...
Not quite like a cross between a wine commercial and the Algonquin round table...
But more like Paul and Linda Mccartney on the farm with sheep, horses, and music...
LOL!

Thank goodness you are different, (Sig).

Ava, you could explain to me whether the normal distribution is a property of some or all populations, and why some have it and some don't. Height in humans seems to be a normal distribution. Stones on the ground does not. Is there some connection between the rise of biological psychiatry and the decline of the novel? Is there a seductive quality to the perception that one is or has been part of a criminal racket? And so on.

Dear Sig,

This is not 101. This is more like Homer's Odyssey 501.

And it could be a snare of sorts. En Garde!

I need more coffee to do mental gymnastics!

Same here - I don't care for pickles much either as they're high in sodium. But what I find really weird is deep fried pickles.
I like to cook and eat all kinds of weird and exotic foods (as long as it's not land animals), but somehow cucumber soaked
in salt and vinegar, and then deep fried in fat does not appeal to me. Apologies to anyone who likes deep fried pickles.
I know they're pretty popular in some states. I'd be willing to try it, so let me know if anyone's got a good recipe!
It'd be fun to trade recipes on social : )

~ ~ well, I think it's possible to like someone who is perhaps very different from me. To LIKE them & to enjoy their difference & I don't think I would, but I can imagine some people might say 'wow you're weird' or something like that, but to mean it in an affectionate way.

And as to some people not liking others, we're all different & of course some people will like certain others & dislike certain others. I think that's just part of our humanness.

As to the LOL-ing. That wasn't about anything you said Sid.

I was very very touched by your description of you rescuing the snake. I thought it was kind & lovely.

luv, Kath

PS - it hurts me to think that people would be mean to you.

...the thing about me mentioning rescuing snakes-
I was talking about this thing that came into the room that everyone was freaking terrified of, it slithered under the table where everyone was sitting, they got up, ran away, started screaming

but I knew there was nothing to be afraid of, so I gently put it in a container and put it outside

I guess I wish people were not afraid of Dr. Bob so much, I don't think we need to be afraid of him. I think people here get mad, they leave with the idea that Dr. Bob has some bad intentions. I don't think he does.

My name is obsidian...did you notice?? I am not the most optimistic and trusting of souls. I have been on this board while I have been in some very bad places mentally, and it has helped me. The people here have helped me. Sometimes the snake you think enters the room is just something harmless.

My thoughts were not as pure as yours. My sense of humor is not only twisted, but racy as well. My point of view
was a bit on the...well, x rated side : ) My laughter was mostly driven by one of my favorite poster's definition of
the said reptile on the social board...so that was really the main reason for my laughing fit. (Plus I tend to use humor
as a way to cope during stressful times.) It wasn't at all about the body of your post.

But, I definitely should have been more sensitive to you. The good news is - I feel like we've gotten to know each other
a little better through this thread and bmails. I'm very glad you said something so we could clear it up.
